December 03: Happy New Year!

On New Year’s Eve 03, there were celebrations and parties all over Honeycomb Valley. The students and older teens went to have their New Year’s celebration at “their” pub, The Bumblebee.

Most of their time was spent chatting, dancing, laughing, reminiscing and drinking cocktails.

James even attempted to have a friendly chat with Jill, but his ex girlfriend would have none of it. New Years Eve might not have been such good timing James, as Jill reflects upon her year, I don’t suppose she’s forgotten that prom night

Screenshot-122When midnight approached everyone paired up with a friend or lover (except for James, who played guitar) and counted down

Screenshot-130

This kiss between engaged Harry and Lily was expected…

Screenshot-126
This one may not have been…

Screenshot-133Although…. Sarah and Seth may think they had kept their feelings for one another hidden for their friends up until now, but none of them seemed very surprised by their first public kiss

Either way, a new year had come, so that called for fireworks! Everyone went outside, where Harry lit the first fuse

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Pretty colours!

Screenshot-153

After the fireworks, some people stayed while others went home.
Seth had something he needed to do first though…

Screenshot-162

“So, umm, Sarah, Now that everyone knows, what do you say to making “us” official?”

Sarah needed no time to think and agreed immediately.

2004 was off to a good start.

December 03: Christmas Time

The moment December came knocking, snow started to fall in Honeycomb Valley.
The residents were all too happy about their winter wonderland and took their lovers iceskating…

Screenshot-525

…or their little ones to a snowy park. (Honeybee riders! Can you imagine how happy Honeycomb Valley was to receive those?)

Screenshot-521

But the best thing about December has to be…

Screenshot-534

Christmas! Snowflake day? Nah, For the Honeycombers Christmas is Christmas.

That warm Christmas feeling set in on the afternoon of Christmas Eve when the teens and kids left school in a jolly good mood! The holidays had finally arrived! Presents, good food and, most importantly, no school!

Kyra and Holly decided to spend the cold afternoon at the park, and asked their classmates Logan and Trisha to come along. In the park they ran into Logan’s best friend Jeffrey who was there with his friend Ruby. The more the merrier, especially this time of year, so the six teens spent some time together having a snowballfight.

Screenshot-552

Logan and Kyra also tried to do some spins together on the ice.

Screenshot-561

At 7, it was time for everyone to go home.

The next morning Kyra’s brothers were up very early. It was Christmas after all! To make sure they wouldn’t break the whole house down, Jacob took his twins to the beach behind their house.

Screenshot-566

Kyra stayed at home. She had… umm… something else to do…

Screenshot-564As soon as she had finished, she went down to the beach too though. It looked like the men could use some help!Screenshot-570

Screenshot-571When they were tired of whacking snowballs at each other, Jacob suggested they’d try to build an igloo.

Nathan was too restless for this job and made a snow angel instead.

Screenshot-575His brother Nick, sister and father built a great igloo though

Screenshot-576

After many hours on the beach, the Cook children and their dad were very cold and went back to the house, where dad played a game with his boys

Screenshot-579While Lucy started the preparations for their Christmasdinner

Screenshot-580When the turkey was in the oven, the whole family gathered outside to roast some marshmallows at the firepit

Screenshot-582

Lucy had to go in rather soon, because she wasn’t feeling very well. And at Christmas! Poor Lucy…

Screenshot

Despite feeling ill, Lucy still managed to set the table in time for dinner.

Screenshot-3Pretty soon, the Cook family was enjoying a lovely Christmas dinner

Screenshot-9Which Jacob ate with chopsticks for some reason… I know he’s half Chinese, but this was still quite a surprise!

Screenshot-20After the turkey there was of course some dessert

Screenshot-22When the table was cleared and everyone was feeling very full, it was time for presents!

From the parents to the kidsScreenshot-27

And from the parents to each other

Screenshot-32Those small packages contained various wonderful things. And everyone was very happy with what they had received. Curious? This is what they got!

presents

The next Christmas day began at the Harvey family house. Charlotte was up very early to start cooking. She may be a master chef, but cooking a fancy three course dinner for a family of nine is quite a job, even for her. So, she started early, still in her pyjamas.

Screenshot-38And, Christmas or not, dogs need to be walked. Since Jones is officially Logan’s dog, Logan was the one braving the cold to take Jones out for his walk.

Screenshot-40They walked their usual route to the play park where they played for a while… (Find Jones, apparently)

Screenshot-51… and then headed back

Screenshot-52Back home, Aaron was playing whack your daughter in the face with some snow

Screenshot-60

Screenshot-57And Charlotte had set up the table before the guests would arrive

Screenshot-62Around three, they all showed up. Alice and Simon were first.

Screenshot-67But soon, Charlotte’s brother Alexander arrived as well, along with Jenny and Suzan.

Screenshot-68

The kids were especially happy everyone was on time, because as soon as the whole party was present, it was gift giving time!

Despite there being plenty of seats on the sofas, the gentlemen all decided to sit on the chairs at the table…

Screenshot-72…while the ladies chose the comfort of the sofas (Suzan, I’m not sure that’s an appropriate outfit for your formal family Christmas…)

Screenshot-74The first gift was for Emily

Screenshot-75It contained a honeybee rider. I think Emily might be a bit old for that, but fair enough.

Then it was Logan’s turn

Screenshot-77You may not believe it, but that little parcel contained a bicycle! He was quite happy with it.

The rest of the family was happy with their gifts too, except for Simon, who mumbled something and didn’t look too pleased with what he got.

Before long, it was time to start with the first course of the formal dinner: Bouillabaisse!

Screenshot-83

Screenshot-85That went down rather well! Then the second course was brought to the table: a choice of lobster or steak

Screenshot-87Alexander and his family (and Simon too) left before Charlotte could bring dessert to the table, but her mother stayed for a delicious piece of pie!

Screenshot-93After this dinner, the whole family seemed to have grown a dresssize, but hey, that’s Christmas.

That brought Christmas in Honeycomb Valley to an end.

Well, almost…

Because, Christmas or not, dogs need to be walked.

November 03: Autumn Happenings

It’s been a while, I know. Sometimes this thing called “real life” gets in the way. Shocking, I know. 😉

Either way, here we are again. During the last month of my SimSummer (August), I made a post with all sorts of little stories about things that had happened during the summermonths. Because that worked rather well, I decided to do the same again with for the autumnmonths when the last month of autumn (November) arrived.

Here’s what (some of) my simmies have been doing during the autumn of 03.

An afternoon and an evening with the Masons

Colin, Naomi and Liam are a happy family, but everyone who knows them will be able to tell you the one thing they really really want: another child. However, wanting a child doesn’t always mean getting a child. Especially not in the case of Naomi and Colin. So one Septemberday, Naomi went off to the hospital yet again for another fertility treatment…

Screenshot-115She sat in the waiting room, not all that happy… The treatments didn’t make her feel well and so far it hadn’t worked yet… They had been trying since Liam was only two years old, and by now her boy had already started school! How long would this have to go on for?

Thankfully, Naomi had a great doctor in Aaron Harvey. He always made her feel at ease.

Screenshot-116

After the treatment, Naomi went home to lie down for a while before Liam would come home again. She was glad for the fact that Alice had not given her her own class at school this year. Working as a substitute for a year meant it was a bit easier to take a step back every now and then when she felt she needed it.

When the evening fell, she felt a bit better and prepared a nice meal for her family.

Screenshot-166After dinner she helped Liam with his homework…

Screenshot-168

Screenshot-169…while Colin did the washing up and cleaned the counters. He’s a firefighter and he cleans! *Sigh* Hold on to this man, Naomi, hold on!

Screenshot-170

When Liam had finished his homework, it was time for bed. He brushed his teeth and mum read him a bedtimestory.

Screenshot-171

Screenshot-172

Screenshot-173Later that night, Naomi and Colin decided to put yet another fertility treatment to the test… It’s a tough job but someone’s gotta do it…

And! It WORKED! Naomi is pregnant! Hooray! The little Mason baby is expected to arrive in March 04!

A whole bunch of babies for the Robinson sisters

You may remember me mentioning somewhere how sisters Annabel and Evelyn were both pregnant. Annabel for the third time and Evelyn for the first time. Annabel was due in early autumn (September), her sister in November.

For the Griffiths family, a new addition meant they had to move house. Their old home was quickly sold and they bought a very nice new place on the next street over.

The whole family quickly settled in their new home.

Screenshot-43 (2)

The girls each got their own bedroom, they had shared one ever since Ellie was born.

Screenshot-44 (2)The move came just in time…

Meet Justin and Vicky!

Screenshot-72

Screenshot-75

Screenshot-77

Two months later, Justin and Vicky had a little cousin…

Screenshot-40First time dad-to-be Zach rushed his girlfriend off to the hospital immediately.

Screenshot-42A few hours later, they came out again, carrying…

Screenshot-45…Valerie!

They took her home where new mum Evelyn put her in her brand new crib.

Julian’s 1st birthday

In October there was a little party at the Marshall residence. Baby Julian was no longer a baby! It was his very first birthday!

Screenshot-3

Screenshot-4

After cake and presents, Erin took her son for a stroll.

Screenshot-6

Screenshot-9

The weather was quite good this October, so they walked all the way through to Bumblebee Quarter, where Erin had a great idea; wouldn’t it be nice to have their family picture taken? She quickly called up her husband and asked him to come meet her at the photostudio.

Screenshot-13Kyle seemed umm… excited to have found the place?

Even though Kyle apparently had a problem with the place, photographer Gareth Magee knew what he was doing and took this familyportrait:

Jasper and Eva

Just to show it wasn’t all baby this past autumn, here are two pictures to show what happened between Jasper Adams and Eva Wyler

Screenshot-61

“Jasper, how would you like it if…”

Screenshot-60

“…my house became your house too?”

It turned out Jasper liked that very much actually!

And with that, the autumn came to an end. Despite the warm autumn weather, snow started to fall the moment December came knocking. But more on that another time!
