January 06: Life and Death (Pt. 1)

After an eventful 05, January 06 was quite slow paced. Not a lot happened. The things that did happen though, were rather lifechanging for some Honeycomb residents. For them, January 06 was either all about life or all about …

The passing

In the very first hours of 06, while outside the fireworks were still lighting up the sky, lovely grandmother Phyllis felt it was time to leave this world…
1

When Thomas came down to check on his mother, like he did most nights, he soon realised she had passed… Lauren immediately realised something was wrong and rushed down to console her husband.2

Once the initial shock wore off, Thomas knew he had to inform his sister, she’d want to know.3

Olivia had just gone to bed that New Years Eve and was able to answer her phone quickly. Will was already sound asleep.4“Hey Livvy, it’s Thom… Listen.. umm.. I’m afraid mum has… umm… left us…”

Olivia, feeling distraught, couldn’t contain her emotions and burst out in tears, waking her husband.5Will immediately embraced his wife.
6

“Will… It’s mum… She… she… she di…”7“Oh honey, I’m so sorry… At least she’s at peace now, right?”

Olivia knew he was right…

The baby

Despite 06 starting off on such a sad note for the Adams en Richardson family, elsewhere the year was about to begin much happier.
A few days into the new year, Morgan woke up feeling “different”. She immediately knew what this meant; her baby was coming!

Knowing births can take a while, Morgan first made herself some waffles.8

After she had finished her breakfast, she gave the dads-to-be a call to inform them of her current status.9

“The baby is coming?!” David uttered on the other end. “We’ll be right over!”
“Don’t rush, it could still be hou…” Morgan didn’t even get to finish her sentence, because David had already hung up.

And indeed, Morgan just barely had enough time to get dressed and there they were.
10

“Are you okay? Are you in pain? Should we go to the hospital?!”
– “Relax! I’m fine! Contractions are only mild so far, this could really still be quite a while.. Have a seat…”

11“It’s really not like in the movies, guys, I don’t have to rush to the hospital straight away. I’d rather just sit on my exercise ball for a while. Apparently that helps.”

And so she did.
12

But a few hours later, contractions suddenly got a lot more painful…13

Causing Bradley and David great distress…14

Clearly, the time to go to the hospital had now come.15

Four hours after arriving at the hospital, little Jonah was born. Named after Morgan’s great love, Jonas. Even though the dads were still quite in shock from the whole ordeal they had just witnessed, little Jonah had three, very happy parents!16

Morgan, Bradley and David had already agreed Jonah would spend his first months living solely at Morgan’s house with his dads paying him frequent visits.
Since the birth had been rather uncomplicated, Morgan was soon able to take her son home. Her dream had finally come true.
17

A week later, Susie and Louise came to visit and Jonah got to meet “his future bride”, or so mums Morgan and Susie joked. 18

From pregnant friends to mum friends…
19“We did it, Suse…”
“We sure did…”

The funeral

While Morgan was busy adjusting to new life as a mum, the Adams and Richardson families were gathering to say goodbye to their mother and grandmother.

20

Thomas and Olivia were still quite upset…21

But for the rest of the family, it was a chance to catch up again.22“So Finnegan, I hear you have a new girl?” Lucas said to his cousin.
“I do! Her name is Jada, she’ll join us later.”

After a ceremony in the church, Phyllis was buried at the cementery. 23

Remembering their mother and grandmother moved the family more than they had thought.24

Once everyone had said their goodbyes, the family went back to the Adams’ house.
Lucas played with the chicks for a bit. 25

Eva consoled her father-in-law…26
Lauren had made a delicious pumpkin pie which the youngsters of family especially enjoyed. Including Jada, who had come to support her boyfriend.27
After the pie, Lucas spoke to Finn.28“Wow man, you sure did well, Jada is hot!”
“Bit too young for you though!”

Meanwhile, Eva and Jasper had gone for a walk through the house. After all, it had always the plan they’d get the house after Phyllis would have passed. And while she didn’t say it out loud (and hated herself for even thinking it), Eva felt the timing had been sort of just right, as they were about to get married in May…29

Eva and Jasper had always loved this house and had discussed what they’d do with it several times before. They agreed they wanted to keep the original details and feel of the place, but would still make some small changes…30“We need lots of light, Jas! So light walls and …”
Eva rambled on for quite a while…

More excitement for Eva in…

May 05: Changes (Part 1)

May arrived in Honeycomb Valley and with it came changes. Some big, some small, but things certainly changed for many of Honeycomb Valley’s residents…

Moving Day

In April, The Anderson family signed the contracts which made them the owners of a small little house in The Greenery, Honeycomb Valley’s new, eco friendly district. Now that May had come around, moving day was upon them. The kids were staying at aunt Julliet‘s house until tomorrow, so Benjamin and Grace could really get some work done.

The movers arrived early that morning and soon everything was loaded in the truck and they were ready to go.

Screenshot-29

Ben and Grace weren’t the only ones moving into their Greenery house today. For Colin and Naomi it was moving day as well. And wow, did they have a lot of stuff!Screenshot-25

They knew a lot of it would have to be sold or given away once they were done. That’s what you get when you move from a big house into a small one…

Screenshot-37

***Note: For both the Anderson and the Mason family, I had moved all of their furniture from their old homes into the family inventory and challenged myself to decorate their new homes using their old furniture and only buying the minimum amount of new stuff (some shelves here and there, mostly). It was a challenge, especially with these houses being so tiny, but I had a blast decorating this way! ***

Soon, both families were well on their way getting their new homes organised.

Screenshot-42

Around noon, the hard workers decided to have a picnic together on the field.

picnic

While discussing their progress, Naomi and Grace realised they both needed some stuff. Naomi needed to get a bed for Liam (Liam used to have a double bed in the old house and there was no way that would fit), Grace needed a rug for the living room and they both needed some shelves. So, the girls decided to go to Ikea together, while the men continued in the homes.

After a few hours, the ladies came back with a van they rented at Ikea.

Screenshot-56

Grace stopped by Naomi and Colin’s house to see how they were getting on.
There was still a lot to do…

Screenshot-58

But when evening fell, both families had made a lot of progress. Benjamin and Grace invited Colin and Naomi over to have some spaghetti.
Screenshot-59

It was delicious!

Screenshot-62

While their parents worked, Liam, Isla and cat Prince were staying with grandma Donna, who was loving having her grandkids over!

Screenshot-65

Liam loved it too. At least here at grandma’s he was allowed to have a jam sandwich for dinner!

Screenshot-68

And after dinner, he could have a bath for as long as he wanted!

Screenshot-71

He could even splash!bathtime

Meanwhile, Isla was already sound asleep.Screenshot-79

Isa and Ethan were also having fun with cousins Sadie and Esme (although I’m not sure what Esme and Isa are watching…)
Sadie is always playing with her cousins when she’s with them!Cousins staying over

Aunt Julliet was still at her toyshop, but the rest of the family had sushi for dinner!

Screenshot-87

Isa proved to be the perfect houseguest, because she did the washing up completely autonomously!

Screenshot-93

Esme took Ethan to bed. (In a very undecorated guestroom – the Stevens family is in the process of remodeling their home)

Screenshot-96

Then the girls of the family had a little dance together!

Screenshot-99

Goodmorning!

The sun rose early the following morning, it was clear summer was approaching. Before the new residents of The Greenery were up though, there was another guest on The Field…

Screenshot-103

If you thought we were missing a resident on moving day, you are right! Morgan had not been there the previous day because she had other business to attend to. And her house was all done already anyway. But this morning, Morgan arrived too.Screenshot-161

The previous day had been a rather important one for Morgan. Let’s have a little flashback…

Morgan’s Day

While Ben, Grace, Colin and Naomi were hard at work in their new houses, Morgan was at the hospital. Today was THE day. The day Dr. Harvey would, hopefully, help her get pregnant. Morgan was in the waiting room -much too early- waiting rather nervously for David and Bradley to arrive.

There was another woman waiting there as well, who started to speak to Morgan.

baby friends

“Do you have an appointment with Dr. Harvey as well?”
– “Yes, but don’t worry, I’m just very early, I guess your appointment is before mine”
“Oh good, haha, I was worried he might be running late and I need to go to work soon”
– “No no, I’m really just early! I was too nervous to wait any longer…”
“Haha, I know, all this being pregnant business is quite nervewracking, isn’t it?”
– “Oh, I’m not pregnant yet, but I hope to be after today… How far along are you, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Just about 6 weeks, this is my first check up. My boyfriend should be here shortly, but he insisted on coming on his horse and now he obviously can’t find a place to leave him…* He’s quite young and naive… Is your umm… partner around too?”
– “No. Or actually, I don’t have a partner. I’m going to be a single mum. I did find two great men who are willing to help me with this and be part time dads though!  I found the love of my life when I was really young, but sadly, I lost him… Ever since then, things just haven’t been the same. And now I’m 35. Before you know it I’ll be 40! It was now or never, really…”
“Oh! I understand! BELIEVE me, I do.We’re not getting any younger, right! If I hadn’t met Luke, I would probably have done the same thing! I’m Susannah, by the way, but everyone calls me Susie.”
– “Nice to meet you Susie, I’m Morgan.”

Friendship established.

When Susie had left, it was Morgan’s turn, even though the boys weren’t there yet. Aaron discussed the procedure with her.

Screenshot-195

Thankfully, they soon arrived and Aaron also explained to the boys what David’s part in all this would be. (Although, that seems pretty straight forward if you ask me…)

Morgan and Bradley waited in the waiting room…

Screenshot-200

And then it was Morgan’s turn to go in…

Screenshot-202

After that, it was two weeks of waiting… Fingers crossed!

Back to The Greenery

So, that had been Morgan’s day. But now she too had arrived at her new house. By this time, her neighbours were already up too. Grace was already hanging the laundry out to dry.

Screenshot-190

That afternoon, both Naomi and Grace were happy they would get to see their kids again. Naomi arrived at school before the bell rang.

Screenshot-212

There he was! Hi Liam! Mummy missed you!mother-son reunion

Grace had picked up Ethan from Julliet’s shop first, so she was a bit late. Isa didn’t mind though, she played in the playhouse until her mum arrived.

Screenshot-224

But she too was happy to see her mum again!

Screenshot-228

Both Liam and Isa were very eager to see their new homes!

See what they think in…
part 2

*Luke actually DID go to the hospital on his horse. Because he was taking forever and I wanted him to get a move on, I decided to teleport him in. Little did I know that when you teleport a sim who’s on a horse, the horse is teleporting too… Result:

part 1

Blind Date

That night, Rachel helped her little sister get ready. As the day had progressed, Ruby actually did get excited for her “blind date”. Who would it be? Many names and faces had already gone through her head, but she just couldn’t figure it out.

best sisters

When she was all done, Ruby got on her brother’s bike (hers was lost again…) and rode to the park.

Screenshot-85

As she walked over the bridge towards the island, she saw her and immediately recognised her…

Screenshot-89

Trisha.

Screenshot-91

Ruby was pleasantly surprised. She didn’t know Trisha all that well, but from the couple of times they’d hung out, she seemed like a lovely, cheerful and funny girl.

Screenshot-94

“I didn’t expect it to be you!”
“Hehe, I hope it’s not too big a disappointment!”

“No! No, not at all…”

Ruby and Trisha spent the entire evening hanging around in the park chatting and getting to know each other better.

hanging out

Time flew by and before long, it was time to say goodbye.

Screenshot-108

“Thank you for meeting me, Ruby. I had a really nice time tonight!”
“No, thank YOU for being brave enough to text me. This has been wonderful!”

Trisha sure was brave. Brave enough even to try…

Screenshot-115

And Ruby was surprised to find her heart do a little jump…

Back home she told her big sister all about her night.

Screenshot-119

Rachel was very happy for her little sis!

Screenshot-123

And Ruby just couldn’t stop talking about it all…

Screenshot-128

…Until they were interrupted by their mum… Screenshot-129

Hannah needs a hobby to get through this burn out…

Morgan

While Trisha was with Ruby at the park, her brother went to Foster’s to meet Morgan

Screenshot-172

They sat down and ordered a drink and Morgan explained the details of her plan to Gareth.

Screenshot-174

She was soon interrupted by him though…
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, like I said, I’d LOVE to help you out! So, how about we get to it? Your place or mine? I’m a healthy guy, I can go all night long and as many times as is needed!”

Morgan was appalled…

Screenshot-175

“What?! No! We do this at the hospital!”
“The hospital? Okay, not my first choice, but hey, they have beds there. Or are you a public place kinda gal? All fine by me baby, we can do it anywhere you like!”

Morgan had heard enough and got up to leave before their drinks had even arrived. Gareth stopped her though.

Screenshot-177

“Aww baby, don’t go, we’re just getting started. Look, maybe I came on a bit strong, it’s just you’re so fiiiiine I can’t control myself y’know. Let’s just do this baby, it’s win-win, right? You get something, I get something.”

At this point Morgan just got angry.

jerk

“Just get out of my way ,okay! You’re disgusting and wish we’d never met!”

Screenshot-180

“Oh, that’s how it is? First you say you want a baby and then I come and graciously offer to help you and then suddenly you get all prudish? Fine! I’ll go then! Some mum you will be if you aren’t even willing to put in the effort to MAKE a child!”

And with that, Gareth left.

Morgan was left feeling distraught. It seemed this donor search would never end well. All she attracted were creepy men…

After another week of no more emails, Morgan was really feeling down and decided to treat herself to a new outfit to feel better…

Screenshot-183

Yes, at least she looked good…

Screenshot-188

And there was more good to come as she would go to City Hall tomorrow to sign the buyers contract which would make her owner of a lovely little house in The Greenery. Although she was starting to wonder if it wouldn’t be better to just return to Bridgeport…

But when she got back to the hostel and opened her laptop to work on her book a bit more, she found she had an email, subject: donorsearch.sim

Screenshot-212

Anxiously, Morgan opened it… It was long…

David mail

“Dear Morgan,

How are you? And how is your book coming along?
My name is David Stewart and I write to you in response to your ad on donorsearch.sim. My husband Bradley and I immediately liked you, but we’ve put off writing to you as I figured we’re probably not what you’re looking for. However, my ever persuasive spouse eventually convinced me there’s no harm in trying. 😉

Let me start of by telling you a bit more about us. I’m 28 and Brad is 32. We’ve been married for 4 years now. I work as a desk clerk at City Hall and Bradley is in the military. We have a dog, Voice, who we love, but our family isn’t quite as complete as we’d like it to be yet. We would love to be dads, even if it’s just part time.

With this wish in mind, we started searching on donorsearch.sim for a woman who was looking for someone to co-parent with. So far we haven’t been able to find someone who’d be a good match. They either live too far away or aren’t really a match for us.
And then there was you! Funny, sweet, beautiful and living in Honeycomb Valley on top of that! Like I said, we were immediately excited to have found you. And then we saw you clicked the box saying you were looking for a donor and not a co-parent… You can imagine our disappointment…

So I guess I’m writing you in hope you might reconsider. I know this is a big decision and not something to take lightly, but we can tell you up front we’re willing to work out an arrangement which makes all three of us happy. Together, we could make three wishes come true and give this baby three parents who will love him/her to the moon.

Thank you for your time to read this email either way. We hope to hear from you. You can reply to this email, send us a message through donorsearch or call us on 634-713905.

Good luck with your adventure.

Hugs,
David (and Bradley) Stewart

Ps: Attached you find a picture of us. I’m the dark-haired one.”

The email left Morgan speechless… True, she wasn’t looking for a co-parenting situation because of all the hassle that gave. What to with birthdays and Christmas? And she also didn’t think she could bare to be without her child frequently… But these guys… They seemed so sweet and kind. And did it say Bradley was in the military? Maybe Kai knew him then! It was worth asking about…

After a lot of thinking, Morgan decided to give David a call. At least it couldn’t be worse than the meeting with Gareth had been…

Screenshot-214

David also sounded nice on the phone and was extremely excited Morgan called him. They decided to meet the next day after Morgan’s appointment about the house.

Residents for The Greenery

The next morning Morgan was first to arrive in Henry‘s office.

Screenshot-242

Usually, when Sims bought houses in Honeycomb Valley, they had to go through estate agent Leonard, but in this case, Henry dealt with everything considering The Greenery himself. It was his project after all.

Screenshot-243

Soon, Colin and Grace arrived as well, as both the Mason and the Anderson family had also decided to go for it.Screenshot-244

Henry explained what living in The Greenery meant for its residents. Sims wanting to live there had to sign a contract saying they agreed to living entirely eco friendly, which meant they weren’t allowed to own cars and dryers (washing machines were allowed) and had to always be conscious about separating their trash and composting.eco rules

Everyone agreed to this and they all signed their contracts. Congratulations! You are now neighbours!

Screenshot-252

Morgan

Morgan’s exciting day had not come to an end yet though, as she headed to the pancake house to meet David and Bradley…

co parent meeting

The boys were as nervous as Morgan was, and they all decided to have some pancakes to calm their nerves.

Screenshot-263

After they had all finished eating, they discussed their hopes and dreams. Morgan told them about her concerns with a co-parenting situation and the boys told Morgan about their wish to be dads and how they really wouldn’t mind if this was only part time. They were willing to work out any kind of arrangement Morgan felt comfortable with.

Morgan had a lot to think about, but she was really starting to warm to the idea of co-parenting with these men. They were just so lovely and they wanted this so badly!
If Morgan actually does decide to go for it with David and Bradley, we’ll see that in May… For now she has a lot to consider!

Ps…
