May 05: Changes (Part 2)

part 1

New Home

Isa couldn’t wait to see what her parents had made of the house and ran ahead as soon as the house came into view.

She was obviously happy to see her dad too, but she was mostly looking forward to seeing her new bedroom.

She soon got to see it, together with Ethan, because the kids would obviously have to share a room.
new roomI’m not sure what she thinks of it really, but I’m just going to assume she liked it.

Liam was also happy to see his dad again.

And Liam too got to check out his bedroom.

While Grace had picked Ethan up from Julliet‘s toyshop, Naomi had made other arrangements. Since Donna was curious to see the house too, she had told Naomi and Colin she would bring Isla and Prince by later that afternoon.

However, as Donna was getting ready to leave, she suddenly saw Prince had FLEAS! Thinking he must’ve gotten them from Pebbles, she couldn’t bring him back to her son and daughter-in-law’s new home all covered in fleas! So, she gave Prince a bath first. Thankfully he didn’t put up a fight.

And so, an hour later than planned, Donna arrived with Isla and Prince.

Colin was happy to see his daughter again.

As was Naomi.

And Liam was just pleased to have Prince back, even though he had seen him that morning…

Colin asked his mother if she wanted to stay for dinner, and Donna happily agreed.
Naomi chatted with her mother-in-law, while Colin made salad.

First dinner in the new house!

After dinner, Liam had to start getting ready for bed. (Isla was already sleeping)

Meanwhile, Colin and Naomi told Donna all about their busy moving day. They were happy tomorrow would be a saturday!

After Donna had left, Naomi read her son a bedtime story. Hopefully he would sleep well in his new bed.Screenshot-267

When both kids were asleep, Colin and Naomi finally had a moment to themselves.

Across the field, Isa was drifting off to dreamland as well. Finally, all the residents of The Greenery were home.bedtime story

First Morning

The next morning, the Anderson family had their first breakfast together in their new home. Isa had slept well, and Ethan was still asleep! It must be the peace and quiet there…

The Mason family also had their first breakfast and Liam was already thinking of playing on the field with Isa later.

Morgan was up too. Very alert of every little out-of-the-ordinary feeling in her body, although she knew it was still too soon to tell. At least she too slept well in her new home.

As soon as he was dressed and ready, Liam did go over to Isa’s . Both kids were happy to find out their classmates, the Knight triplets, were visiting the eco supermarket with their parents this saturday morning and were obviously very curious to see where their friends were living.

Liam and Isa showed them around. They visited the cows and The Field.

And ended up playing here together for most of the day.tag

If you, like the Knight triplets, are also curious about The Greenery, you can now tour it here. From there on out you can also visit the houses where these families now live and see what they made of it, with lots of stuff and little room! The houses can also be visited through their personal pages.

A few weeks later, it was schoolpicture time at The Beehive! The pictures in the hallways needed to be changed again.
Gareth took his job very seriously as per usual.
The kids had their pictures taken in their own classrooms, the teens had their pictures taken in the cafeteria in front of the clock wall.

Screenshot-296And here are the results.

Have you met my dog?

There was a big change for Riley too! Although, this change actually already happened in February, but hey.
In February, Riley’s aunt Abigail went to Sandy Valley for “Le Bal Masqué“. She didn’t pick up any gorgeous bachelors, but while she was in Sandy Valley, she did find out the Desfranges family had puppies up for adoption. Knowing how much her nephew had been wanting a pet, she decided to bring him a puppy. Her sister was less pleased, but couldn’t say no when she saw how happy Riley was.
And so, little, hyperactive Trognon was added to the Chapman family. But since Riley couldn’t pronounce his name, he changed it to PomPom.
These two are having a blast together!

have you met my dog

Riley isn’t the only one in the family in love with Pom though. The little one already knows how to use his cuteness to his advantage with the big boss too.

And then there’s a fun squeaky chew bone for you too!

It’s a good life…

Wildlife Education

Earlier this spring, some changes had been made to Honeycomb Valley’s Central Park as part of mayor Newman‘s project “Greenify Honeycomb Valley”. One of the things that had been added was a Wildlife Education Center where teachers or other educational professionals could come and bring children to teach them all about wildlife in and around parks.
Naomi, being all about nature, was the first one to bring her class to the park for a lesson during the last week of May.

First, the kids sat down on the benches under the tree where Naomi explained what they would be doing today.

The kids were told to go look for a creature in pairs. It could be a bug, it could be a rodent. If possible, they were allowed to catch it (under supervision) and take it inside where they would study it. At the end of the afternoon, all creatures would be released back into the park.

Nathan and Riley immediately started crawling under bushes…

…while Ruth and Nick discussed a strategy first.

In the end, only Nathan and Riley had found a ladybird, but fortunately a chipmunk and an iguana were already available for study in the wildlife center.

After studying the animals for a while and taking notes, miss Naomi called her class together to tell them about ants.
The kids were fascinated to see the work the ants did underground.

After they had learnt about ants, they were left to their own devices for a while.
Apparently a sleeping chipmunk was very funny to Ruth and Nick…

The Moment of Truth

Morgan had been good. She had waited the full two weeks before taking a pregnancy test, but today the moment of truth was finally upon her…

POSITIVE! She was actually pregnant! After only one try! Wow! She could hardly believe it!
Of course she immediately called David and Bradley and then her brother.

Congratulations Morgan! I’m sure you’ll be a great mum!
And with Morgan’s happy news, May had come to an end. The busy month of June was around the corner. Why June was so busy? That’s a story for another time.

***Note: I have quite a strict policy about using poses for my sims. I don’t mind posing them for things for which I personally would pose too. And by that I mean, having their picture taken. When you have your picture taken, you strike a pose. Most of the time anyway. So, I have no problem putting my sims in poses for schoolpictures, weddingpictures, portraits etc. However, when I play, I play. I don’t play to write a story, I write a story about what I played. Therefore I don’t like posing my sims for storytelling purposes. I once posed a childbirth that way and ended up not using the pictures, because I felt it “didn’t actually happen that way”. I was moving “statues”. It felt wrong. And so, my no-poses-unless-they’re-having-their-picture-taken policy was born.
But as you can see, this time I’ve made an exception. The pregnancy test poses were so PERFECT for Morgan, as there is no action or animation in game which quite shows the tension and excitement that come with taking a pregnancy test when you really want to be pregnant. These poses did show that and therefore I’ve made an exception to my rule. Just this once. For Morgan.***

May 05: Changes (Part 1)

May arrived in Honeycomb Valley and with it came changes. Some big, some small, but things certainly changed for many of Honeycomb Valley’s residents…

Moving Day

In April, The Anderson family signed the contracts which made them the owners of a small little house in The Greenery, Honeycomb Valley’s new, eco friendly district. Now that May had come around, moving day was upon them. The kids were staying at aunt Julliet‘s house until tomorrow, so Benjamin and Grace could really get some work done.

The movers arrived early that morning and soon everything was loaded in the truck and they were ready to go.

Ben and Grace weren’t the only ones moving into their Greenery house today. For Colin and Naomi it was moving day as well. And wow, did they have a lot of stuff!Screenshot-25

They knew a lot of it would have to be sold or given away once they were done. That’s what you get when you move from a big house into a small one…

***Note: For both the Anderson and the Mason family, I had moved all of their furniture from their old homes into the family inventory and challenged myself to decorate their new homes using their old furniture and only buying the minimum amount of new stuff (some shelves here and there, mostly). It was a challenge, especially with these houses being so tiny, but I had a blast decorating this way! ***

Soon, both families were well on their way getting their new homes organised.

Around noon, the hard workers decided to have a picnic together on the field.

While discussing their progress, Naomi and Grace realised they both needed some stuff. Naomi needed to get a bed for Liam (Liam used to have a double bed in the old house and there was no way that would fit), Grace needed a rug for the living room and they both needed some shelves. So, the girls decided to go to Ikea together, while the men continued in the homes.

After a few hours, the ladies came back with a van they rented at Ikea.

Grace stopped by Naomi and Colin’s house to see how they were getting on.
There was still a lot to do…

But when evening fell, both families had made a lot of progress. Benjamin and Grace invited Colin and Naomi over to have some spaghetti.

It was delicious!

While their parents worked, Liam, Isla and cat Prince were staying with grandma Donna, who was loving having her grandkids over!

Liam loved it too. At least here at grandma’s he was allowed to have a jam sandwich for dinner!

And after dinner, he could have a bath for as long as he wanted!

He could even splash!bathtime

Meanwhile, Isla was already sound asleep.Screenshot-79

Isa and Ethan were also having fun with cousins Sadie and Esme (although I’m not sure what Esme and Isa are watching…)
Sadie is always playing with her cousins when she’s with them!Cousins staying over

Aunt Julliet was still at her toyshop, but the rest of the family had sushi for dinner!

Isa proved to be the perfect houseguest, because she did the washing up completely autonomously!

Esme took Ethan to bed. (In a very undecorated guestroom – the Stevens family is in the process of remodeling their home)

Then the girls of the family had a little dance together!

The sun rose early the following morning, it was clear summer was approaching. Before the new residents of The Greenery were up though, there was another guest on The Field…

If you thought we were missing a resident on moving day, you are right! Morgan had not been there the previous day because she had other business to attend to. And her house was all done already anyway. But this morning, Morgan arrived too.Screenshot-161

The previous day had been a rather important one for Morgan. Let’s have a little flashback…

Morgan’s Day

While Ben, Grace, Colin and Naomi were hard at work in their new houses, Morgan was at the hospital. Today was THE day. The day Dr. Harvey would, hopefully, help her get pregnant. Morgan was in the waiting room -much too early- waiting rather nervously for David and Bradley to arrive.

There was another woman waiting there as well, who started to speak to Morgan.

baby friends

“Do you have an appointment with Dr. Harvey as well?”
– “Yes, but don’t worry, I’m just very early, I guess your appointment is before mine”
“Oh good, haha, I was worried he might be running late and I need to go to work soon”
– “No no, I’m really just early! I was too nervous to wait any longer…”
“Haha, I know, all this being pregnant business is quite nervewracking, isn’t it?”
– “Oh, I’m not pregnant yet, but I hope to be after today… How far along are you, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Just about 6 weeks, this is my first check up. My boyfriend should be here shortly, but he insisted on coming on his horse and now he obviously can’t find a place to leave him…* He’s quite young and naive… Is your umm… partner around too?”
– “No. Or actually, I don’t have a partner. I’m going to be a single mum. I did find two great men who are willing to help me with this and be part time dads though!  I found the love of my life when I was really young, but sadly, I lost him… Ever since then, things just haven’t been the same. And now I’m 35. Before you know it I’ll be 40! It was now or never, really…”
“Oh! I understand! BELIEVE me, I do.We’re not getting any younger, right! If I hadn’t met Luke, I would probably have done the same thing! I’m Susannah, by the way, but everyone calls me Susie.”
– “Nice to meet you Susie, I’m Morgan.”

Friendship established.

When Susie had left, it was Morgan’s turn, even though the boys weren’t there yet. Aaron discussed the procedure with her.

Thankfully, they soon arrived and Aaron also explained to the boys what David’s part in all this would be. (Although, that seems pretty straight forward if you ask me…)

Morgan and Bradley waited in the waiting room…

And then it was Morgan’s turn to go in…

After that, it was two weeks of waiting… Fingers crossed!

Back to The Greenery

So, that had been Morgan’s day. But now she too had arrived at her new house. By this time, her neighbours were already up too. Grace was already hanging the laundry out to dry.

That afternoon, both Naomi and Grace were happy they would get to see their kids again. Naomi arrived at school before the bell rang.

There he was! Hi Liam! Mummy missed you!mother-son reunion

Grace had picked up Ethan from Julliet’s shop first, so she was a bit late. Isa didn’t mind though, she played in the playhouse until her mum arrived.

But she too was happy to see her mum again!

Both Liam and Isa were very eager to see their new homes!

See what they think in…
part 2

*Luke actually DID go to the hospital on his horse. Because he was taking forever and I wanted him to get a move on, I decided to teleport him in. Little did I know that when you teleport a sim who’s on a horse, the horse is teleporting too… Result:

And this is on the second floor… Oops…

April 05: Spring Surprises (Pt. 1)

After the busy month of March, the Honeycombers were looking forward to a peaceful and relaxed April. For some of them this month had a few spring surprises in store though…

Early April 05 a bus arrived in Honeycomb Valley. A woman with a suitcase and a backpack got off. Her name was Morgan and she had a message to send…

“Hey bro, you’d never guess where I am! At the Honeycomb Valley bus station! Care to meet me for a cup of tea later?”

But the brother in question was so surprised to hear his sister was in town, he texted her back saying he would not meet her for tea later, he would come pick her up at the bus station right away!

About ten minutes later, Kai arrived to meet his sister whom he hadn’t seen in a long time.

“What are you doing here?! And a suitcase? Are you staying?”
“Yeah, I booked a room at the hostel. Only for a little while though, I hope to find a place soon!”
“A place?! You mean, to live? You’re actually moving here? But I thought you liked living in Bridgeport?”
“Let’s go for that tea, big brother, I’ll explain all…”

And so Morgan and Kai sat down at The Tea Cosy where Morgan had big news to share with Kai.

telling kai

“So you know how my biggest wish has always been to be a mum? But how I haven’t been able to find anyone to settle down with after losing Jonas? Well, I’m not getting any younger, so I decided I’m going to do it by myself. I didn’t want to raise a child in the city though and I also think it’s important for him or her to have family around. Therefore I’m moving here!”

This was a LOT of information for Kai to process all at once it seemed.
But after he had a chance to let it all sink in, he was happy for his sister and asked her if she wanted to come with him to the playground, where he was going to meet Rosalie and the boys later on. Obviously Morgan agreed, she couldn’t wait to see her nephews!

It was a warm reunion between Joel and his aunt.

And Morgan and Jayden hit it off straight away too, despite having only met once before after Jayden had been born.

While Joel taught his brother how to walk…

walk little brother…Morgan told Kai and Rosalie a bit more about her plans.

She told them about how she had read about this new project started by mayor Henry Newman. A project to make Honeycomb Valley more “green”. Part of this project was the building of a whole new, eco friendly district called “The Greenery“. There would be three tiny houses up for sale in this district and Morgan, being very environmentally conscious, was really hoping she would be able to get one of those houses where she could then live with her son or daughter.

The Greenery

Morgan wasn’t the only one who excited about these houses in The Greenery. Naomi and Colin had also been discussing moving there. They had always been all about nature and living in a district like this would be perfect! Especially since their current home was really just too expensive now that they also had Isla and Prince. Moving did mean they would have to get rid of a LOT of stuff because their new house would definitely be a whole lot smaller. After a lot of thinking, they decided to go for it anyway. And thus, they had to tell Liam.

we shall move

Liam didn’t mind having to get rid of some stuff, just as long as he could bring Prince.
“Of course you can!” his parents told him. “And did we tell you they have cows there?”
“No way!?”
“Yes! Tomorrow we are invited to come and see it all. Do you want to come?”
“YES! But what about Isla’s birthday then?”
“Well, we were thinking we’ll bring a cake and have Isla’s birthday there?”

They took the cake, Isla and a birthday candle the next morning and headed to The Greenery.

Happy first birthday Isla Mason!
I think she wanted cake too though…

cake at the greenery

After having had cake on the field, the family headed over to the first house which was going to be shown by estate agent Leonard.

Colin and Naomi weren’t the only ones interested in buying a small house in The Greenery. Other interested Sims had also signed up for the tour by Leonard.
Morgan was obviously there and the outdoor loving Anderson family was also interested.

Leonard told them all about The Greenery.

house viewing

“The houses are small, yes! A smaller home means you have to make conscious decisions about what you bring into your home. Only buy what you truly need, which helps the environment. All houses have been isolated and electricity is provided by natural resources.
The Greenery also holds a yard where all residents can plant, grow and harvest their own produce. Over at the farm we have cows and chickens to provide milk and eggs.
The organic supermarket sells only organic stuff and is open to the whole of Honeycomb Valley, not just the residents of The Greenery.
Then we have the field and the garden. The field can be used for all kinds of get togethers. The garden is a place to just relax in. You can go here to unwind from a…”

By this point, Liam was getting bored of it all and joined his classmate Isa outside.

“Hey! Are your parents also looking to buy a house here?”
“Yeah… But I don’t want to move… So I’m not even gonna go in there.”
“Oh. —- It might not be so bad though, you wanna know a secret?”
“What is it…?”did you know

“They have COWS here!”
“Wow!!! My parents said nothing about COWS! Are you sure?!”

“YES! Come on, I’ll show you!”

“Told you.”

Liam and Isa stayed on the farm to play and feed the animals for a while.

Meanwhile the adults went to check out the supermarket.
Annabel Griffiths, though not looking for a new place (there’s no way the Griffiths family could fit in one of these houses), had also come to see this supermarket.

eco market

After the tour, everyone was convinced this would be a GREAT place to live.
Even Isa, who spent the rest of the afternoon playing tag with Liam on the field.tag

After her visit to The Greenery, Morgan was even more excited about her plans. She already had an appointment at the hospital to discuss her course of action the next day, but she also had something else to take care off.
See, Morgan wanted to become a single mother, but since she’s no plant, she knew she would need some help to make this wish come true: a donor.
To Morgan it was important this donor would be a man her future son or daughter could eventually meet. At least once. The idea of an entirely anonymous donor didn’t appeal to her. She knew what she wanted so she sat down with her laptop at Fosters and logged onto a site called donorsearch.sim and created a post:

“Hello good samaritans! My name is Morgan, I’m a 35 year old single girl living in Honeycomb Valley. All my life I’ve know I wanted to be a mum and I even met the guy who’d be dad in that equation. Unfortunately fate had other plans and I lost him years ago. Since then, Prince Charming 2.0 hasn’t entered my life and me and my eggs don’t want to wait for him anymore.
But my eggs alone can’t make a baby, so we need your help! I’m looking for someone who’d be willing to donate his best swimmers to make my dream come true. I’m not asking you to be daddy though, don’t worry! Quite the contrary actually. I’m more than happy to raise this child by myself, but I am looking for someone who’d be willing to meet him or her at least once, when they get older. It’d be great if your appearance matches mine somewhat, so my child won’t have to spend his/her entire life wondering where their blond curls come from, but it’s not a dealbreaker. I myself have black wavy hair and deep brown eyes.
Maybe you’d like to know more about me. Well, like I said, I live in Honeycomb Valley, but I’ve only recently moved here. I’m hoping to get a house in The Greenery, this new eco-friendly district they’ve built here as taking care of our earth is important to me. I also moved here to be closer to my family. My brother and his girlfriend also live here with their sons, my darling nephews who are 12 and 1. I work from home as I am an author. I mostly write children’s books. Only two have been published so far, but I’m working on a new one as we speak. In my spare time I like to read, go on walks, paint or play the violin.
Contact me if you think you can help me out! I’m already truly excited to hear from you!”

The next day Morgan had her hospital appointment.
She told Aaron about her plans and he was very excited! He had personally never had a patient with this wish, although he had done artificial inseminations before.

Aaron told Morgan all about how this would work and ran some basic tests on her. She seemed completely healthy and okay, so Aaron wished her the best of luck in her donor search and told her to contact him when she’d found her donor.

When she arrived back at the hostel, Morgan was very excited indeed to find she already had a mail!

Nervously she opened the message…

Onslow mail

My name is Onslow Mills. I saw ur ad and figured I’d help this yong lady out. Becuse I’m a nice guy, u know. I wud luv 2 meet u. Can u cum c me? Then I can cum 2 if u no what I mean… 😉

Call me on 634-098568

Wow… Morgan closed her laptop in horror… THIS was certainly not what she was looking for…

Spring at the Ranch

Spring in Honeycomb Valley also meant there was lots to be done. Luke and Susie took care of their garden together. Boy obviously “helped” too.

garden work

They say being outdoors makes a man hungry, but in Luke’s case being outdoors made a man… well, you know…

Ah… Yes… See… We’ll umm… leave you to it…

A few days after that horrible email, the initial shock had worn off and Morgan was hopeful again. Okay, that man had been a bit dumb and a lot creepy, but that didn’t mean there was no good donor to be found.

And yes, about a week later, she indeed had another email:

Gareth mail

“Hello Morgan,

I saw the ad you placed on donorsearch.sim and I hope I can help you out.
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Gareth, I’m 28 years old and I’ve lived in Honeycomb Valley for a couple of years now.
I’m a professional photographer and I own my own studio in Bumblebee Quarter. I live here with my 15 year old sister whom I took in after our mother died.
I’m single and don’t have any children yet.
Maybe we can meet for a drink soon?

Give me a call at 634-209754

Kind regards,

Well, that actually sounded hopeful! He wasn’t gorgeous or anything, but Morgan wasn’t looking for beauty, just someone nice with good swimmers.

So, Morgan gave Gareth a call and they agreed to meet the next day. “Love Day”, Gareth reminded her. Morgan didn’t know what that had to do with anything, but fair enough…

Ruby’s Secret Admirer

Gareth was right though, the next day was Love Day. One girl who wasn’t expecting this day to be any kind of special, received a text that morning…

secret admirer“Happy Love Day Ruby, I wouldn’t normally do this, but I had to tell you I quite like you. Xxx, a secret admirer…”

Ruby found it all a bit scary to be honest. It also brought back memories of that time when Jeffrey had told her he liked her and she had to disappoint him by telling him she wasn’t into boys, that way. Jeff hadn’t taken it badly and they were still close friends, but Ruby didn’t like having to do that, and now she might have to do it again…
Even though she was a bit spooked, she still decided to text back. The sooner she got this over with, the better.

“Hi… Look, I suppose I’m flattered you think of me that way, but I think you should know I’m not into boys… I like girls…
“Hehe, what makes you think I’m a boy…?”

“You’re not…?”
“Nope! :D”

Things just got interesting…

“So… ummm… How did you get this number…?”
“You gave it to me!”
“We know each other…?”
“Yup! I’m texting you from a different phone though, wouldn’t be a very good secret admirer otherwise right?”
“I guess… So how well do I know you…? Are we friends…?”
“Hmm… I don’t know if we’re friends. We hung out in a bigger group a few times. I would certainly like to be friends though!”
“I have to admit I’m very curious as to who you are now, lol!”
“Well… How about we meet then… Say, tonight around 7:30? You can choose the place. I promise I’m not creepy or anything!”

Ruby had to think about this for a while. She was very intrigued to find out who this girl was. But meeting was also a bit scary… After thinking about it for a while, she decided she would meet her, but it would have to be somewhere public!

“Okay. Do you know the tiny island in the middle of the park lake? I’ll be there at 7:30.”
“Awesome! I can’t wait! See you tonight then!”
“Okay, see you tonight…”

part 1

Two days until Christmas…

The Christmas holidays had started and with only two days to go until Christmas, Joel decide to check out Winter Wonderland, a place in town only for the winter, and entirely devoted to winter fun like snowboarding and ice skating.

Joel loved snowboarding! Even though he fell a few times, he always got up to try again.board

After a while, his father Kai came to see how his son was doing. He felt very proud indeed!that's my boy

All this snowboarding sure is chilly, so Kai and Joel sat down for a nice cup of hot chocolate and a warm snack, provided by student Mia who was hired for the holidays.

It soon got busier. Even Olivia tried on some skates, which is remarkable, since she’s the biggest couch potato in town.mother son

And look who we have here! Chloé was over from Sandy Valley once more to visit her friend Sophie for Christmas.

The girls tried to skate too, and even felt they could do a spin together!skate

Hmm… I guess you better work on that some more, girls…

They then decided to give up on skating and have a bagel instead!

that's better

It’s Christmas!

On the morning of Christmas day, Donna got up early to prepare a lovely Christmas dinner. Her son, Colin, along with Naomi, Liam and Isla would be visiting later that day.

Around noon, they arrived. First they had some tea and cookies…

…and then it was time for presents!!prezzies

Everyone loved what they got. After presents though, Colin said he wasn’t feeling well and that he was going to go home. Naomi argued for a bit about how he couldn’t do that, his mother went through so much trouble! But Colin left anyway.*

So, Naomi, Liam and Donna enjoyed the meal of soup and pumpkin pie without Colin.

*What really happened was that Colin kept getting a script error and was thus reset. I tried to get him to his mother’s again, but he just wouldn’t show up. Sims..

Of course little Isla wasn’t forgotten, she enjoyed being with her grandmother very much too.

In the evening, the bells of St. Clifton Church rang; it was time for Christmas mass.

It was very busy! Honeycomb Valley doesn’t have many religious residents, but even many non religious ones enjoy the Christmas mass. The lights, the singing…

Charlotte and Aaron found a little private moment before the mass began…

Of course the Edwards family occupied the first rows, joined by Ben, who came over from Bonnie Brae to celebrate Christmas with the Edwards.

Even the balconies were full…

The Cook/Watson/Bennett family occupying a whole balcony. Even Nathan was sitting still!

Of course, mayor Henry and his wife Jacqueline were also present.

John led them all in song.

The Chapman family, and Lillian‘s sister Abigail couldn’t find a seat anymore, so they were left to stand.

And then there’s always a few people who can’t stop chatting…

After the mass was over, Ben went up to John to thank him for a beautiful service.

One day after Christmas…

We stay with the Edwards family a while longer, because the day after Christmas Ben was visiting their home. He had something to ask John…

He was quite nervous to ask this question…asking father

…but the answer pleased him to no end!

After asking her father, it was time to ask Rebecca that all important question. John called the whole family to witness this joyous event…

Martha made no effort to hide the fact she thought this whole charade was ridiculous!

Rebecca though, couldn’t be happier, and hugged her fiance tightly!

And so Christmas was over, but 04 was not! New Years Eve was still to come! But more on that next time…

A note about Ben and Rebecca
Ben and Rebecca have only known each other for 2 months. Normally, I would never engage two Sims this quickly. But since John picked Ben with the intention of him being a match for Rebecca and I felt that in Rebecca’s case “dating” would simply not happen, it only seemed appropriate for them to get engaged. Whenever two sims of mine got engaged before though, the one being asked would be over the moon and jump into their fiance’s arms. I had already decided to ignore it when Rebecca would do this, because I didn’t feel it would fit her. But, to my surprise, she didn’t! She just hugged him tightly! They didn’t even kiss! Since they indeed haven’t yet shared that first kiss, I loved this! This was so appropriate for them!

February in Honeycomb Valley was like most Februaries in most places; rather uneventful. Children don’t need big events to have a happy day though. A free sunday is enough for them. And so it was that we spent a February sunday with the children of Honeycomb Valley.

9:00 am

Joel‘s dad had told him that, according to the weather forecast, thaw would set in today. So Joel wasted no time and called his friend Ryan to enjoy the snow for one more day.

The boys had snowball fights, played tag and rode their bikes all around town…

…even in the middle of the street! Luckily the streets of Honeycomb Valley aren’t very busy on sunday mornings.

11:00 am

Jeffrey took his sister to the park behind their house. Or umm.. trailer… Chantal however seemed confused about what to do there…

She did find a very pretty early spring flower, which she took home to put in water.

12:00 pm

The Edwards children had no time to play. It was sunday, so of course Joshua, Miriam and Ruth, along with their older sisters, brother and mother, spent most of the day in church listening to their father.

It was a busy service too.

Naturally, the Edwards family occupied the first rows.

After the service, the family headed home for a hot sunday lunch. Dad’s favourite, of course.

The kids seemed to like it too though.

2:00 pm

In the afternoon, the snow really did start to melt away. Best friends Zoe and Emily met up in the park.

Like their classmate Chantal, they too found some early spring flowers which smelled and looked lovely.

While her sister was picking flowers in the park, little Ellie found a different way to have some fun and set a little trap…

Her dad had no clue and when he went to wash his hands, got soaking wet.

He did not find that amusing…Screenshot-47

…And Ellie had to mop up the puddle she created herself.Screenshot-51

5:00 pm

Brothers Tyler and Riley had been bored all day, but when it got close to dinner time, finally decided to dress up as fearsome dinosaurs…

…and go on a hunt through the neighbourhood.

Screenshot-60 6:00 pm

At the Mason household, mum got help from Liam preparing the meal for the evening. Spaghetti!

First wash your hands!

Liam and his mother prepared a great meal. Dad Colin loved it very much too.

8:00 pm

Twin brothers Nick and Nathan were allowed some time on the game console they got for Christmas, before it was time for bed…

…Just so long as they also read a bit before sleeping! Lucy encourages her kids to read daily and sunday is no exception.Screenshot-79

And then, at 9:00 pm, the day really was over for Nick, Nathan and all the other children of Honeycomb Valley. Goodnight everyone, sleep well…

In other February news…

Welcome to the world, little Jayden Harrison!

It might have felt like spring when Zoe and her friend Emily went flower picking in the park, but apparently it was still chilly enough to catch a cold. And even though you may be 11, but when you’re home ill from school, there’s no better companion than your favourite teddybear!

November 03: Autumn Happenings

It’s been a while, I know. Sometimes this thing called “real life” gets in the way. Shocking, I know. 😉

Either way, here we are again. During the last month of my SimSummer (August), I made a post with all sorts of little stories about things that had happened during the summermonths. Because that worked rather well, I decided to do the same again with for the autumnmonths when the last month of autumn (November) arrived.

Here’s what (some of) my simmies have been doing during the autumn of 03.

An afternoon and an evening with the Masons

Colin, Naomi and Liam are a happy family, but everyone who knows them will be able to tell you the one thing they really really want: another child. However, wanting a child doesn’t always mean getting a child. Especially not in the case of Naomi and Colin. So one Septemberday, Naomi went off to the hospital yet again for another fertility treatment…

Screenshot-115She sat in the waiting room, not all that happy… The treatments didn’t make her feel well and so far it hadn’t worked yet… They had been trying since Liam was only two years old, and by now her boy had already started school! How long would this have to go on for?

Thankfully, Naomi had a great doctor in Aaron Harvey. He always made her feel at ease.

After the treatment, Naomi went home to lie down for a while before Liam would come home again. She was glad for the fact that Alice had not given her her own class at school this year. Working as a substitute for a year meant it was a bit easier to take a step back every now and then when she felt she needed it.

When the evening fell, she felt a bit better and prepared a nice meal for her family.

Screenshot-166After dinner she helped Liam with his homework…

Screenshot-169…while Colin did the washing up and cleaned the counters. He’s a firefighter and he cleans! *Sigh* Hold on to this man, Naomi, hold on!

When Liam had finished his homework, it was time for bed. He brushed his teeth and mum read him a bedtimestory.

Screenshot-173Later that night, Naomi and Colin decided to put yet another fertility treatment to the test… It’s a tough job but someone’s gotta do it…

And! It WORKED! Naomi is pregnant! Hooray! The little Mason baby is expected to arrive in March 04!

A whole bunch of babies for the Robinson sisters

You may remember me mentioning somewhere how sisters Annabel and Evelyn were both pregnant. Annabel for the third time and Evelyn for the first time. Annabel was due in early autumn (September), her sister in November.

For the Griffiths family, a new addition meant they had to move house. Their old home was quickly sold and they bought a very nice new place on the next street over.

The whole family quickly settled in their new home.

The girls each got their own bedroom, they had shared one ever since Ellie was born.

Screenshot-44 (2)The move came just in time…

Meet Justin and Vicky!

Two months later, Justin and Vicky had a little cousin…

Screenshot-40First time dad-to-be Zach rushed his girlfriend off to the hospital immediately.

Screenshot-42A few hours later, they came out again, carrying…

They took her home where new mum Evelyn put her in her brand new crib.

Julian’s 1st birthday

In October there was a little party at the Marshall residence. Baby Julian was no longer a baby! It was his very first birthday!

After cake and presents, Erin took her son for a stroll.

The weather was quite good this October, so they walked all the way through to Bumblebee Quarter, where Erin had a great idea; wouldn’t it be nice to have their family picture taken? She quickly called up her husband and asked him to come meet her at the photostudio.

Screenshot-13Kyle seemed umm… excited to have found the place?

Even though Kyle apparently had a problem with the place, photographer Gareth Magee knew what he was doing and took this familyportrait:

Jasper and Eva

Just to show it wasn’t all baby this past autumn, here are two pictures to show what happened between Jasper Adams and Eva Wyler

“Jasper, how would you like it if…”

“…my house became your house too?”

It turned out Jasper liked that very much actually!

And with that, the autumn came to an end. Despite the warm autumn weather, snow started to fall the moment December came knocking. But more on that another time!

September 03: Back to School

The Day Before

September came round and soon school and university would be starting again for the kids, teens, students and teachers of Honeycomb Valley. As per usual, the day before school would start again, The Beehive opened its doors to the kids and teens who would be starting in primary school or high school after summer. To get acquainted. Of course the parents were invited too.

Ellie and Liam were a bit nervous, but not as much as their mums, probably!

Holly, Kyra, Logan and John Jr. finally got to explore “upstairs” now that they were teenagers. They, and their parents, met with Benjamin, who will be their class mentor for the next two years.

After the new kids and teens had left, it was time for the teachers to get together for a quick “beginning of the year” briefing and of course some catching up.

The first day

The next morning, the first day of the school year was finally there. This wasn’t just exciting for the kids and teens. Maths teacher Pierce also felt just a little bit nervous. He had started teaching at The Beehive in January, but with the new year came new responsibilities and the new beginning is always just a bit nervewracking either way.
He kissed Loretta goodbye and got on his bike to go to school.

Half an hour after Pierce arrived at school, so did the pupils.

From the seniors…
(And is that Finn thinking of Sadie in the background?…)

…to the kids! (And VERY pregnant Annabel who dropped off her youngest daughter for her first day)

At 9.00 everyone was inside and ready to get started!

The kids

Liam and Ellie turned 5 over summer and had been looking forward to their first day in Miss Eva‘s class. Riley and Ruth, who are also in their class, were already 6. For them it all wasn’t so new anymore, although they would get a lot of new challenges too this year.  Eva gave the kids a few minutes to get used to each other and their environment.
*** Gameplay note: as you might have read in my post on Education, kids of two different ages are in the same class. It’s like this in class I teach in real life as well. It helps me fill my classes. ***

When all the kids had found a seat, Eva started with her “welcome to class” speech. She explained what was going to happen this year and what the rules are.

After a while, attention was clearly dwindling, so Eva put the kids to work. The two youngest ones got a half hour of free play, while Eva gave some maths instructions to Ruth and Riley.

Ellie wanted to know when they were going to play outside…

The teens

One floor up, our “new” teens were experiencing their first day too. Their first lesson was Science, taught by Mr. Murray. Here too, there was time for a few minutes of chitchat before getting down to business.

John didn’t waste any time to show his feelings of superiority towards his classmates. When Kyra kindly asked him how his summer had been, he responded rather rudely…

Logan saw it too.

And there was a new girl in class!  Her name is Trisha and she moved to Honeycomb Valley with her brother Garett, who’s a photographer. Trisha and Garett will be properly introduced in time. All of her new classmates, with the exception of John, welcomed her warmly.

Then Elliot felt it was time to begin the lesson, so he called everyone to take their seats.

Science is VERY fascinating…

(Although, maybe not for Holly, who somehow managed to stay out of most pictures I took. Maybe she’s camera shy?)

The students

For the students at Honeycomb University, lessons were also starting again. Two weeks after the kids and teens went back, so did they.
***Side noteHarry Newman graduated High School in 02. At that time, the university hadn’t yet been built, so technically, this would have been his first year. However, knowing Harry’s father the mayor, I didn’t think he would approve of his son doing “nothing” for a year. So I decided to pretend Harry had already had a year of university education behind him. Read about my university system in the education post.***

Two new first year students moved into the Student Residence to live there with Harry (second year history), Narai* (second year science) and Lola* (third year linguistics): Mia, who will be studying medicine and Chris*, who will be a music student.

A new university building had been built over the last months and the students all agreed it was a great building, with a quiet library…

…a cafe with good food…

… and a nice terrace.

That night they celebrated the start of the academic year at the local (student)pub, The Bumblebee.

The year was off to a great start!

Naomi Thomas has always been very happy with the life she led. She had a nice house, wakes up next to her soulmate every morning, had a job she loves and a son she loved even more. Her big wish was for Liam to have a brother or sister. Even though Naomi and her little sister Natascha are different as night and day, she loved growing up with a sibling and wanted the same for her son. But the mother nature she takes such good care of, didn’t take very good care of her. Getting pregnant was a big hassle for Naomi . She had started the whole medical circus, and after months of just being ill, she eventually got pregnant!
