July 05: Windiwell Revisited (Pt. 3)

Go back to…

part 2

Unfortunately, Lison wasn’t the only one catching the flu. Kylie got ill too and had to stay in bed as well.
With Kylie out of the running, the task of entertaining the teens fell entirely on (childish) Don. And the ideas he had weren’t always met with much enthusiasm. Like his plan to go the ranch. Although Molly, Holly and Kyra liked this, the rest of the gang was rather bored here. And it turned out it wasn’t much fun for the girls either, as there were no horses available to ride.

Molly did ask this local lady if she could perhaps ride her horse, but she wanted none of it.

Screenshot-215

However, Molly persisted and eventually, the lady said yes. Molly was over the moon! She missed her horse Butter and was happy to ride again.

Screenshot-218

Don then took the kids (apart from Molly, who he allowed to stay at the ranch. In a strange town. By herself. While he is responsible.) to the football field, which they liked a little better. Jeffrey and his new friend Elliott had a little one on one and Logan and Khalid took turns showing one another what they could do with a ball.

And Don played guitar…football skills

Holly challenged Ben to a shootout as well, but Ben is much more athletic than he may seem, because he caught every ball she tried to get in and scored every time while she was in goal.

one on one

Silas and Kyra meanwhile only had eyes for each other. Screenshot-229

Don showed his maturity by giving Jeffrey a scare. At least someone was having a good time…

Screenshot-236

Apart from Don, the kids got fed up with the football field before long and they all went back to Windiwell to spend the rest of the afternoon doing their own thing.

Molly and Holly immediately went to take in some sun.Screenshot-237

While friends Logan, Jeffrey and Ben did the thing they love best: fishing!

Screenshot-238

Kyra and Silas had a game of gnubb…

Screenshot-239

..and some closer contact.gnubb romance

Don also had to take care of dinner, so salad it was!

Screenshot-247

After dinner, he made a fire, so they could have marshmallows for dessert.

Screenshot-253

Both Don and Khalid burnt theirs though.burnt marshmellows

Jeffrey didn’t join the group at the fire, he had something much more interesting to do. He found a bird! A nuthatch! How adorable! He decided to try and bring it home and named it Noosa.

Screenshot-256

Holly and Khalid also wandered away from the group after a while for a bit more stargazing before bed.

Screenshot-267

Another day, another breakfast. Which Elliott ate by himself at a separate table… And hey, look who’s up!breakfastThankfully it had only taken a few days for Lison and Kylie to feel better again. Which was a good thing, because the end of their stay was fast approaching.

The plan today was to go windsurfing! Yeah! All teens (and Don) loved this plan!
windsurf

They stopped at the field again. It looked like Noosa was already feeling quite comfortable with Jeffrey because she (he?) showed up there as well.Screenshot-281

Waterballoon fight!

Screenshot-283

In the afternoon, the wind turned and they all got back on their boards to return to the beach. Don stayed behind, because he wasn’t done windsurfing yet.

When he eventually did come back he approached fast and showed up his skills by navigating his board through the swimming kids.

Screenshot-285

While Don was actually quite proud of what he could do with his board,  Kylie was getting fed up with his childish behaviour and took him apart to give him a piece of her mind.childish

“What were you thinking out there?! You could have taken someone’s head off! Stop being so irresponsible! You’re an ADULT! This camp isn’t about you having a good time, it’s about THEM having a good time! And I hear you even left Molly alone on the ranch a few days ago! You’re so childish Don, I don’t know if I can do this with you anymore!”

Don thought Kylie was overreacting.

While Don and Kylie were fighting, this happened in the background….
unexpeted flirt

Wow… Was it because Kyra had something going on with Silas now? Was it jealousy? Whatever it was, Logan, who never paid anything other than friendly attention to Kyra, suddenly couldn’t stop flirting with her.
It confused Kyra greatly. She didn’t flirt back. But this was still Logan…

***Note: as stated previously, I don’t control flirts at Windiwell. I saw Logan flirting with Kyra whilst focused on Kylie and Don. She really is a good girl though and despite it being Logan (whom she’s had “kiss wishes” for ever since she became a teen), she never flirted back. She responded with shy smiles to all his flirts, but then proceeded to “ask about day” and stuff like that. He however, couldn’t stop flirting with her and holding her hands and giving her amorous hugs…)

Molly witnessed the whole thing with interest. Was this so she had something new to gossip about with Holly? Or was it because she wanted to tell her friend Silas someone else was showing interest in Kyra?

No. It turned out Molly was this interested because it gave her an idea. Holly had kissed a boy. Kyra had kissed a boy and now even had another flirting with her. Even Lison had kissed a boy (Elliott, in the very beginning, after they just arrived). She didn’t want to be the only girl not getting kissed this summer! So when Jeffrey stepped out of the water, Molly approached him.

waterflirt

“Wow… You’ve gotten so tan. It looks good on you…”
“Ummm, thanks?”
“Come with me to that tree, I need to show you something”
“O…kay…”

And so Jeffrey joined Molly under the tree and she didn’t waste any time making her move.
She caught him completely by surprise and he didn’t know what to think at first, but hey, if a girl kisses you, what’s a 16 year old boy to do?

another kiss

***Note: it was actually really funny. Molly watched the scene between Logan and Kyra with interest and then went straight up to Jeffrey -whom she only talked to a few times up until then- and started flirting with him. The wish to kiss him came up almost instantly too. So I interpreted it like she didn’t want to be the only girl going home unkissed.***

The last days passed quickly and before long, the last night was upon them. This year, they would leave on a night bus after their karaoke night.

First it was grouppicture time though!

Screenshot-318

Silas and Elliott had the last kitchen duty.last washing up

After which Silas shared a moment with Kyra on the platform.rendezvous

And Molly and Jeffrey discovered a lizard.

Screenshot-333

Then it was time for the traditional last night stuff. Karaoke started a bit earlier than usual due to the fact the bus would leave around 11.Screenshot-335

Despite their argument and the fact that Kylie still didn’t think she could do this with Don another year, they did do the opening number together. Because he is a good singer.

Screenshot-339

The kids, with the exception of Ben, also seemed to like it.

Screenshot-337

Molly and Holly, or “The Ollies”, as they had started to call themselves, also did a duet.

Screenshot-343

The crowd seemed less enthusiastic this time round…

Screenshot-344

Kyra and Lison, Logan and Jeffrey and Silas as a solo artist also did a song. After which all of them had the wish to be professional singers. I don’t think that’s a good idea for any of you, kids, sorry…

After karaoke, they all got their bags.

Screenshot-354

Don told a final ghost story while they waited for the bus.

Screenshot-356

And then it was over and they started their nightly busride.

Screenshot-359

It was morning when the bus arrived in Honeycomb Valley where Kyra, Holly, Logan and Jeffrey had to get off and were greated by familymembers and dogs. home

Kyra started to tell her mother everything about camp. Although… not everything obviously. Silas was kept out of her stories for now. I mean, this is her mother.
Screenshot-365

Even though they were happy to see their parents again, both Holly and Kyra sent their parents away and told them they would come home by themselves so they could say goodbye to their friends and summer romances in private.

Blank squared

After goodbyes, Molly, Silas, Benjamin, Lison, Elliott and Khalid got back in the bus which would take them home as well. Bye bye lovelies, it was so much fun to spend this summer with you! We will miss you!

Screenshot-374

And with that bus leaving, July had ended, but summer had not yet! Oh no, summer still had a lot more in store for Honeycomb Valley… But more on that another time!

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Where do we go from here?

So, now that the bus has left and the group has been split up again, what will happen to the friendships and more intimate connections my simmies made at summercamp? And what will happen to summercamp itself after that fight between Kylie and Don? Will there be another Camp Windiwell next simyear?
Truth is, I don’t know. As far as the friendships and romances are concerned, it’s not entirely up to me as Sandy, Sara and Alex may have plans for their simmies as well. But this is my view on it;
Kyra really likes Silas. She’s not the type of girl to just go around kissing boys for fun. So she wouldn’t have kissed him if she didn’t really like him. I think that from her end she will surely try to keep things going with him for a while. However, as we could see, one look from Logan and she still melts. Her crush on him is deep rooted. If he keeps all this flirting up, it will cause serious dilemma’s for our Kyra. The moment on the beach already quite confused her.
Holly is different. She wanted to kiss a boy this summer and that’s what she did. I don’t see her as the type of girl who takes her summer fling with Khalid very seriously. She will probably text him a few times and wouldn’t be against a few more kisses if they’d ever meet again, but if she meets someone else, or he does, so be it. It’s all good.
Jeffrey is not entirely sure what that kiss with Molly had been about. It was just that one kiss, even though they did hang out a lot after it. I can see them staying friends, but if she wanted more, he would be open to that as well.
As far as Windiwell goes. Hmmm… I’m starting to think I’ve gotten everything out of it that I could have gotten out of it and things are becoming a bit repetitive. I’ll have to see how I feel when summer rolls round again. Time will tell.

Lastly, to my dear Sandy, Sara and Alex; thank you for your teens, I’ve had a blast with them. I’m sorry some of them didn’t get as much “screentime” as some of the others, but dividing attention equally between this many sims isn’t always easy. I also had to limit the number of pictures otherwise this would have been a 5 part story! But here are two bonus pictures for you:

The Ollies being silly (this wasn’t posed!)

July 05: Windiwell Revisited (Pt. 2)

Go back to…
part 1

Over the next few days, the warm weather persisted (yes, even with all these clouds) and on one of those hot days, the group headed to the pool.

And look, Lison and Elliott are being friendly again!

Screenshot-110

Or… maybe not…

Screenshot-108

Lison was really starting to get fed up with Elliott constantly insulting her and berating her ignorance. Maybe he didn’t mean it that way, but it certainly didn’t make her happy. She felt they’d be better of just being friends, and told him so.

***Note: I’m sorry Alex, I’m sorry Sandy, I didn’t mean to break them up. And certainly not this way! I figured maybe this would happen if Lison flirted with Silas a lot, but she didn’t. I don’t know if it’s Elliott’s social awkward trait, but each time I saw him with Lison he was “berating (her) ignorance”. I had set them to romantic interests when they arrived, but with all his insults, they were soon down to acquintances. By this point Lison already had the wish to “just be friends”, but didn’t even get the chance to tell him this, since he had already insulted her to the point of them losing their romantic interest status.***

Poor Elliott, he had so been looking forward to this camp. He had fallen out with most of his classmates at school, so he needed a break. And he would be with Lison again! He hadn’t expected this… What did he do wrong?
Jeffrey, always being the good guy, sat down with him in case he needed to talk.

Screenshot-115

Things were better between Khalid and Holly, with her still flirting shamelessly and him admiring her bikini look.

Screenshot-116

The flirting back and forth between Holly and Khalid went on for most of the afternoon…

Screenshot-114

Dinnertime!

Screenshot-120

Holly and Jeffrey had washing up duty. He wasn’t pleased…

Screenshot-124

After dinner, the kids had some free time. Khalid had set himself a challenge. Keeping the ball up on a small ridge by the pond and not letting it fall in! (he actually chose this spot on his own…)Screenshot-125

Meanwhile, Silas and Kyra (and Ben…) had gone up to the little island where Silas felt the need to tell Kyra she looked really beautiful. Yeah… Silas wasn’t Logan, but Kyra did feel a little tickle in the pit of her stomach when he said that…

Screenshot-126

Back in the common room, Holly took Molly apart to tell her all about how she and Khalid had been flirting all afternoon.

Screenshot-128

Speak of the devil…

Screenshot-131

“Psst, Hols, your boyfriend is coming over!’

Molly was right, Khalid was coming over. Since it had now gotten dark, he wanted to ask Holly if she wanted to watch the stars with him. She happily agreed.

Screenshot-133

After what happened with Saskia on the last trip Khalid had gone on, he decided to take a more subtle approach this time.

Screenshot-139

First a gentle touch and then…

Screenshot-140

To be honest Khalid, I think you would have had success with Holly no matter how you kissed her!

The next morning, the first thing Holly did was inform Molly of the events of last night.

boy gossip

“He totally kissed me!’
“Really?! Was it good!? How did he do it!? Are you going out now?!”
Molly wanted to know everything!

They didn’t get a lot of time to chat though, since it was the warmest day yet, they were heading off to the beach!

Screenshot-151

Holly realised she hadn’t even told Kyra about her kiss yet, so she made sure she did.

Screenshot-153

They were interrupted by Molly though.

Screenshot-156

“Psst Hols, he’s soooo checking you out from over there! Maybe he wants some more kisses!”

Wait, what? Kyra thought. Molly already knew about Holly’s kiss? She didn’t say anything to Holly, but it sure hurt. They were supposed to be best friends! They had always shared everything! And now Holly had shared a big life changing experience with Molly first! Kyra tried not to let it get to her, but when Logan (of all people) asked her what was wrong, she couldn’t hold it in.

Screenshot-157“She’s my BEST friend! And now it’s all Molly this, Molly that!”
“Aww, cheer up! You and Holly have been friends for ages, this girl is not going to change this. Besides, after camp, she’s going back to Bimlico! You know what, come with me to the ocean, it’ll get your mind off of it!”

Even though Kyra had been hoping for at least a hug, she did join Logan in the ocean.

Screenshot-158

Meanwhile Jeffrey and Lison were having a casual chat in the sand.

Screenshot-160

When the day progressed, Kylie rented paddle boats for the group, so they could go down the river.

Screenshot-163

Some of them liked this, others not so much…swans 1 swans 2

They stopped at a field down the river to have a picnic.
(Look how tan these kids are getting!)

Screenshot-173

After the picnic, Holly pulled Khalid apart to a more secluded place for a repeat of last night. (You sure that’s a good idea in swimwear…?)
Screenshot-179

When Don played guitar, Silas again asked Kyra to dance with him. She in turn started to feel that tickly feeling in her stomach again.

slow dance

When the others were already starting to paddle back to the beach, Silas held Kyra back for a while.

Screenshot-186

“You know Kyra… I really, sorta, like you. You’re cool…”
“Yeah… I think… I kinda like you too…”

Screenshot-187

“So umm…. I was thinking… Can I maybe kiss you…?”
“Hehe… Yes… you can…”

kiss

***Note: When Kyra and Silas met on the first day and started chatting, he immediately got the wish to kiss her for the first time. I know Silas has a crush on Ofelia back home, but she kissed his brother at camp last year. Which he may or may not know about. He made a real and unexpected connection with Kyra though and even though I was thinking this would be the summer Kyra and Logan would hook up, she was constantly near Silas and flirting back. She didn’t get the wish to kiss him until they were out on this field though, but when she did, I decided this was inevitable. It wasn’t like Logan was showing any kind of interest in her…***

Back at the beach, Ben, Elliott and Khalid were being athletic.

Screenshot-194

Once Silas and Kyra arrived back at the beach as well, they remained inseparable.

Screenshot-198

Since it was such a lovely day, Kylie and Don decided they would have dinner at the beach as well.
Lison even sat with Elliott, although she doesn’t look very happy about it… The kids sitting outside clearly received more sun this day…beach food

It turned out it wasn’t the food nor the company which cause Lison to pull that face. Unfortunately, she was falling ill… Knowing her responsibility, Kylie took Lison to the doctors.

Screenshot-206

The doctor informed Kylie it looked like it was just flu and ordered bedrest for Lison for a few days. While this wasn’t how Lison had pictured camp, she felt so lousy she did like the idea of just being in bed. She got to borrow a book from Logan who had brought loads anyway and then off to bed it was. Get well soon, Lison!

Screenshot-209

The others were sad having to miss Lison for a few days, but for them, camp obviously still went on… Read about that in…

part 3

July 05: Windiwell Revisited (Pt. 1)

Screenshot-10

If you’re thinking, ‘hmm… This does not look like Honeycomb Valley…’, you’re right! It’s not! We have arrived in Appaloosa Plains for the third annual addition of Camp Windiwell. The summercamp proved to be more popular each year and teens from many places other than just Honeycomb Valley were signing up.

After a long busride camp counselors Don and Kylie had arrived with 10 teens. This year the group consists of the following teens:

From Enekjaer:
* Khalid Farsi (16)
* Elliott McGovern (16)

From Bimlico:
* Silas Day (15)
* Molly Hayes (14)

From Sandy Valley:
* Lison Desfranges (13)
* Benjamin Evard (14)

From Honeycomb Valley:
* Jeffrey Abbott (16)
* Holly Clark (14)
* Kyra Cook (14)
* Logan Harvey (15)

Some teens in this group have some history together.
Lison and Elliott are a couple, well, kind of, because how serious can a long distance relationship with a 13 year old get, really? They met when Lison went on an exchange to Enekjaer and really liked each other. They also met again, when Elliott visited Sandy Valley a while later and that stay was again wonderful for both parties. However, Lison also had a crush on Silas last summer when he visited Sandy Valley.

Molly met Holly and Kyra in Honeycomb Valley when she was there for the Athletic Festival in March. She particularly made a connection with Holly as both girls love horses, gossiping and talking about boys! Molly has a huge crush on Seth Day, Silas’ twin, but unfortunately, he’s not here.

Logan and Benjamin became good friends when they met at Windiwell last year. They both love fishing and dogs so they have lots to talk about.

Kyra has had a crush on her friend Logan for YEARS, but he doesn’t seem to notice her. Not as anything other than a friend that is. They watched the stars together last summer, but that’s it. Nothing more happened, through out the entire year…

Now, that’s a little background, now, let’s see what they got up to, shall we?

————————————————-

After the kids brought their stuff to their cabins, they assembled at the stage to hear what Don and Kylie had to say.

IntroductionDon and Kylie explained the rules and told the kids when they were up for kitchen duty. Then Kylie said that, instead of doing the grouppicture at the beginning of camp, they would do it at the end, but she did want to snap a polaroid picture of each of them accompanied by an assignment. Each teen would receive their picture with the camp name and their own name printed on it and was asked to write on the picture what they expected from Camp Windiwell, what they hoped and wished for this summer or why they came here. They were told to hang on to these pictures so that by the end of camp they could look back and see if what they wrote actually happened. Just for fun! The pictures were private and wouldn’t be shared with the group. (But will be shared here, Simlish translated to English for easy reading. 😉 )

polaroids 1

Polaroids 2Polaroids 3

We’ll see how much of that will actually happen…

After all this, the teens had the rest of the day to themselves to explore the camp and get (re-)acquainted.  Logan and Khalid weren’t off to a great start…

Good start

Lison and Elliott did better and immediately went for a game of gnubb together.

Screenshot-24

Kyra and Silas discovered a turtle which they watched together for a long time. Fascinating!

Screenshot-27

Molly and Holly were already back to gossiping!

Screenshot-11.jpg

Ben found a banister to slide down.

Screenshot-31

Lison also had a chat with Silas. Now that she was with Elliott, she suddenly had no trouble talking to Silas anymore. She still thought he was cute though!

Screenshot-29

***Note: I guess this is a good point in the story to make a little gameplay note. When I play Windiwell, I play by different rules than when my sims are home. Because I have a big town and my sims go about their business when I’m not there, I use Nraas Story Progression to make sure they don’t autonomously make babies, break up, cheat and the works. I don’t like going back to a family I haven’t played in a while and find the parents divorced and mum pregnant by another man. But at Windiwell, I turn the flirt and romance options of SP on again, so the teens can decide for themselves who they’ll flirt (and fight) with and all that. Makes for a much more interesting summer and since they’re in Appaloosa Plains. the settings won’t affect my sims in Honeycomb Valley. I don’t control flirts at Windiwell at all. Not even if I think two sims would be good together. At the first edition of camp, Finn and Esme got together that way even though I would never have thought of them as a couple before that summer. Once two sims BOTH have the wish to kiss one another, I do help them out. In my experience, autonomous kisses between teens who are not yet romantically involved are quite rare, so I will help them there, but only if BOTH parties have the wish to do so. Other than that, they’re on their own…  So when Lison went up to Silas I just watched. They ended up just chatting though.***

I don’t know if Elliott was jealous because Lison had talked to Silas, or if something else was going on, but suddenly this happened:

trouble in paradiseHe was “berating her ignorance”. She didn’t like it.

Logan looked up Kyra to do the cool kids greet. It’s not exactly romance, but at least he was paying attention to her…

Screenshot-47

And Lison and Elliott continued their discussion inside…

Screenshot-43

Rain fell that night, so the teens spent the night indoors and then were told to go to their cabins for the night. First brush your teeth though! Kyra and Silas were again having a chat. It looks like these two will be very good friends.

Screenshot-57

While her best friend Holly stayed behind in the bathroom to gossip with Molly, Kyra made a new friend of her own.

new friend

And of course summercamp isn’t summercamp without a good PILLOWFIGHT!

Screenshot-62

The next morning Kylie woke up early to make breakfast.

Screenshot-64

Benjamin was up early too. The fish tend to bite more in the mornings, you know!

Screenshot-66

After breakfast Logan and Kyra had kitchen duty. Privacy for these two! Guess what they did!Screenshot-68

They just cleaned. Exciting stuff!

Luckily the rain had disappeared and it was in fact a very warm day. Since most kids (and Don) wanted to go to the Summerfestival, that’s where they went!

Screenshot-71

Once there, Khalid and Logan had a good chat (in a barn?). It seems that, despite their rocky start, these two are actually starting to get along.

Screenshot-79

Benjamin and Molly tried out the rollerskating rink. Not entirely successfully…

Lison and Kyra had some ice.

Screenshot-85

Soon it got busier on the rollerskating rink.

Screenshot-90

Some skaters clearly were more talented than others…

And then there was Don, who actually is the biggest kid of all, because he, autonomously, went to get his face painted.

Screenshot-96

Molly and Holly decided to have a waterballoon fight. These two were really starting to become inseparable!

Screenshot-98

But Molly did take a break to “enthuse about dogs” to Logan. Score! There’s nothing Logan loves more than dogs, so he obviously thought Molly was pretty cool after this.

Screenshot-102

In the midst of all this, were Kyra and her new friend Silas. Slowdancing. Kyra was really starting to like this new boy who was being so charming towards her. Was Logan getting some competition?

Screenshot-100

Holly decided if she wanted to “kiss a cute boy” like she wrote on her picture, action needed to be taken. And she already picked out who the boy had to be. He was charming, sexy and 16! So she decided to try a little flirting on Khalid.

Holly was no Edyta, that much was sure, but Khalid had come for distraction and distraction she was. Blonde distraction. So he didn’t hesitate to flirt back.

Screenshot-105

When the day drew to an end the kids decided to have a big waterballoon fight together. Well, with the exception of Molly and Ben who were entering in an eating contest (blergh) and Elliott who was still making twirls on the rollerskating rink.

Screenshot-107

It had been a good and eventful first day and a lot was still to come! Read about that in…

After which, Seth went outside to flirt some more with Holly. In front of Ofelia. Again. Wow.Seth Holly flirt

The day was going to be all about activities on the water. The group rented boats or paddleboats.  Jérémy got in a rowboat with, of course, Sophie. Screenshot-84

Before long, Jérémy and Sophie were back again. And they found themselves alone…. So they decided to do this…Jeremy Soph flirt beach

And then… this…Jeremy Soph kiss beach

Yeah, that was bound to happen!

———————————————

Time flies when you’re having fun, so before they knew it, it was the last night already. They had a leftover buffet for dinner, but they still seemed to enjoy it quite a bit.

Screenshot-106

After dinner, Seth tried to make things right with Ofelia again. At first, she wanted none of it and laughed in his face. But he was so charming, that after a while she allowed him to hold her hands again.

Side note: Ofelia and Seth came to camp Windiwell as friends. After their kiss, they were romantic interests. But with all Seth’s flirting with Holly, their relationship bar had dropped to below 0 by this point and they were no longer romantic interests and not even friends anymore. Because Seth is persistent though, Ofelia eventually allowed his flirts again, and their relationship bar rose to just a tad above 0. Even though the bar is still low, they are romantic interests again now. Pffft, Sims… (or maybe, teens…)Ofi Seth mixed signals

Kyra and Holly felt they could do this too! And they could. Just as well as Jeffrey and Ben!Screenshot-130

They all went to bed quite late that night and the next morning they spent most their time packing. Benjamin still found some time to enjoy fishing though.

And Sophie and Jérémy still found some time to enjoy each other….

And then the bus arrived…

Screenshot-151

Sorry guys, it’s time to go!Screenshot-154

Back in Honeycomb Valley (the first stop on the route) the parents, siblings and dog were already waiting for the bus.

Screenshot-158

And there they were! Even though camp had been great, it was also nice to be home again!Home again

The kids from Sandy Valley and Bimlico got off the bus to say goodbye to their new friends too, but they still had a longer drive ahead of them.
For Sophie and Jérémy, the pain of saying goodbye was lessened by the fact that they’d be seeing each other again next week, when Sophie was to come to Sandy Valley to stay with her friend Chloé again. GoodbyeIt was an amazing summercamp!

July 04: Summercamp! (Part 2)

Click to go back to…part 1

As the days progressed, the weather got increasingly warmer, so a trip to the beach was most appreciated by all the kids. They must all have felt it was too hot to do anything, because pretty soon, they were all sunbathing.

Screenshot-1208

Although, not ALL of them were. Logan played in the water with Kylie.

Screenshot-1205

And Seth and Ofelia copied this idea. The water of the Appaloosa River was quite refreshing!

Ah, look who found a place along side one another to catch some sun…

Screenshot-1211

Turning back to Seth and Ofelia, there was a surprise! Ofi Seth kiss

Despite already having flirted with both Sophie and Holly, Seth had now decided to take things to a whole new level with his friend Ofelia. Knowing his twin brother Silas likes her, I’m not sure how this will go down back in Bimlico… Ofelia didn’t seem to mind though! They saw each other as romantic interests after this.

Meanwhile Jérémy had gotten up from his towel and was trying some windsurfing.

And, he was not alone…Screenshot-1220

Holly also wanted to try the water and went snorkeling.Screenshot-1224

Because the weather was so nice, they decide to have a meal on the beach.Screenshot-1227

And a nice refreshing drink of course!Screenshot-1228

When it got dark, everyone got on their bikes and went back to camp. Jérémy didn’t feel like he had to put on his everyday clothes just to ride his bike, apparently.

Screenshot-1230

That night, they had marshmellows by the fire. Jeffrey didn’t seem to like his burnt ones much!Screenshot-1242

Wow, I can’t believe what I’m seeing! Sophie and Ofelia, sitting together without a bad word between them? Maybe these girls will be friends after all!Marshmellows

Ofelia was showing her good side more as the days went on. She even put in extra effort when it was her turn on kitchen duty with Jeffrey. Jeffrey wasn’t too pleased about this job though!Screenshot-1252 Kitchenduty Jeffrey Ofi

That day the group got on their bikes again and headed off to…Bikes

..the sports field!Screenshot-1275

Since Seth loves being active, he immediately went to the goal!Seth football

And then, a bit further down the field, I saw this happening…

Screenshot-1278

Kyra rolled the wish to kiss Logan right after this, but he didn’t have any wish like that, so I decided to let it be for now.

Seth took a break from football. To flirt. With Holly. IN FRONT OF OFELIA! This guy is so bad!Seth Holly flirt 2

She went straight to Kylie to “complain about Holly”.Screenshot-1282

The following days, the hot weather persisted, so a visit to the Appaloosa Plains pool was a great idea!

Screenshot-1286

Ruby and Benjamin loved the diving board. Benjamin is clearly more skilled in this!Dives

Sophie, just because she’s pretty. 😉

Logan had been forced to get up when Kyra, Ofelia, Ruby, Jeffrey and Holly decided to use the field for a water balloon fight. So, he decided to participate!Screenshot-1302

They had a lot of fun!

Screenshot-1311

When it started to get dark, the group went back to camp. Benjamin stayed behind a little longer though, to try one last dive…Ben awesome dive

WOW! I guess swimming is in his genes!

Ben arrived back at camp a little later because of his dives, but there was still some dinner left for him.

Screenshot-1318

That night, Jérémy and Holly had kitchen duty.

Screenshot-1320

And then they were off again! There were going to be summer fireworks at the beach, so they went to have a look. Some of the kids even got to light fireworks themselves!Lighting fireworks PRETTY!! Screenshot-45 Pretty fireworks Back at camp, everyone turned in for the night. Everyone, except Logan and Kyra! He asked her if she wanted to watch the stars with him. Awwww… Of course she did!Logan Kyra starsDespite the flirts and him asking her to watch the stars, Logan still didn’t seem to have any wishes to take things further. He had made Kyra’s night with this though!

July 04: Summercamp! (Part 1)

Summer in Honeycomb Valley!! All the HV kids and teens had been looking forward to this summer very much. Though some more than others. For six teens and two kids, summer 04 meant summercamp! And they couldn’t wait!

Nathan & Nick

Nathan and Nick Cook were the first to take off. They were going to spend a large part of summer in Sandy Valley at Les Cabanes Perchées, the kids’ summercamp.

Lucy, Jacob and Kyra went with them to the busstation to see them off.

Screenshot-1077

Lucy did tell Nathan to behave himself. She knows how wild and enthusiastic her ADHD boy can get!

Nick Nathan off to camp

Pete the busdriver promised to keep an eye on them during the long trip and the boys promised to call mum as soon as they arrived! Bye boys, have a great time!!

(You can read all about the fun the twins had, here, on Sandy’s non-blog!)

Camp Windiwell

A few days later, Lucy and Jacob were back at the busstation with Kyra. This time they were not alone though! Many of HV’s parents and siblings were there to see off their teens to Camp Windiwell in Appaloosa Plains. Sophie, Ruby and Jeffrey were particularly excited. Since they had already been to Camp Windiwell last year, they had quite a good idea of the amount of fun they were going to have. For Holly, Kyra and Logan it was the first time. While excited, they were also a bit nervous.

Screenshot-1083

Time to say goodbye to parents, siblings and dogs!

Windiwell kids off to camp

After a very long drive, the teens arrived at Camp Windiwell. On the bus they had already met the other teens who would be staying at camp as well. Jérémy and Benjamin joined them from Sandy Valley and Seth and Ofelia had come all the way from Bimlico.

The teens dropped off their luggage in their cabins and got a bit more acquainted with their cabin mates.

Screenshot-1091

Ummm… Jérémy… That’s not your cabin…

Jérémy didn’t waste any time… umm.. getting re-acquainted with Sophie! These two had already met in March when Sophie spent a month in Sandy Valley as an exchange student. Sophie sure hadn’t forgotten Jérémy yet and it seems he still remembered her as well!
Meanwhile Ofelia was badmouthing Sophie to Ruby… *facepalm*

Oh Jeremy

Side note: At summercamp, my simmies (and those visiting) get as much freedom as possible. Because the household is big, it’s impossible for me to constantly control everyone. Besides this, I also enjoy seeing what they come up with themselves. I have the romance setting in MC set on true when I’m at Windiwell, which means the teens can flirt, kiss and start romances as they please. I do keep an eye on their wishes. If one teens rolls a wish to kiss another, but this other one doesn’t have such wishes, I don’t do anything about it. If the other one does, I might direct them a bit more towards each other. But in general, I try to give them as much autonomy as I can with regards to social interactions and the like.

After everyone had had a chance to get settled in a bit, the group was called together for a campmeeting.

Camp counselors Don and Kylie were of course present again as well (both with more hair than last year) and they told the group everything they expected of them during these next few weeks.

Screenshot-1102

Jérémy Demazières, Jeffrey Abbott, Benjamin Evard
Seth Day

Grouppicture Windiwell 04

After the groupphoto, the teens were free to explore the camp as they pleased. Seth decided to instead explore his chances with Sophie…

Two hours at Windiwell and Sophie had already had two different guys flirting with her! This was looking to be quite a different camp experience than she had last year!

Screenshot-1122

Meanwhile Jérémy was getting to know Ofelia better…

Screenshot-1126

Despite it being nice outside, the indoor activities drew the most attention from the teens.

Screenshot-1131

Seth prefered to be outside though and played ping pong with Kylie.

Screenshot-1136

Unfortunately, Kylie was forced to cut their game short to prepare dinner.

Screenshot-1138

Mac and Cheese! It might be basic, but the kids enjoyed it nonetheless.
First dinner

All the kids drew lots to make up a schedule for kitchen duty and Kyra and Ben were up first.

Screenshot-1152

Meanwhile Ofelia was making fun of Sophie again. Ofelia really doesn’t seem to like Sophie much… Kylie gave her a look, which didn’t seem to make much difference.

Screenshot-1154

After all the dishes were done and everyone had put on warm sweaters and cardigans (there was quite a chill in the air), they went off into the woods for a nightwalk.

Sophie and Jérémy wandered off together very quickly… What are you up to, kids…?

Screenshot-1156

To get the full “scary” experience, Kylie told a ghost story.

Night in the woods

This is what Jérémy and Sophie were up to! Aww, that’s quite cute actually!

Jeremy Soph stars

They joined the group again after a while to have a bonfire (yes, a bonfire in the woods, it was in an open area 😉 )

Screenshot-1168

They chatted, sang songs and had a good time. Bonfire

Back at the camp it was time to get ready for the first night.

Brushing teeth

———————————————

The next morning, everyone was up in time for breakfast.

Screenshot-1184

Maybe Seth had realised Sophie was more interested in Jérémy, or maybe he just didn’t like her as much after all, either way, he had given up on flirting with Sophie and had moved on to Holly!
Little Holly clearly isn’t very little anymore, cause she immediately flirted back!

Screenshot-1187

After breakfast, the group headed off on their first outing. To the ranch! Holly and Kyra in particular were very excited!

However, the ranch had a surprise for Benjamin as well, because look who he ran into! Annie! His big sister! Annie was staying with her friend Sophie Mimet who also lives in Appaloosa Plains and Annie being a horselover it made sense she would be at the ranch. Still though, it was a surprise for Benjamin to run into his sister so far away from home.
Annie

Kyra and Holly of course wanted to ride! Kyra even managed to make her horse jump an obstacle! She’s DEFINITELY going to tell aunt Susie and Luke about that!Kyra and Holly horses

Camp Windiwell was off to a great start!

December 03: Christmas Time

The moment December came knocking, snow started to fall in Honeycomb Valley.
The residents were all too happy about their winter wonderland and took their lovers iceskating…

Screenshot-525

…or their little ones to a snowy park. (Honeybee riders! Can you imagine how happy Honeycomb Valley was to receive those?)

Screenshot-521

But the best thing about December has to be…

Screenshot-534

Christmas! Snowflake day? Nah, For the Honeycombers Christmas is Christmas.

That warm Christmas feeling set in on the afternoon of Christmas Eve when the teens and kids left school in a jolly good mood! The holidays had finally arrived! Presents, good food and, most importantly, no school!

Kyra and Holly decided to spend the cold afternoon at the park, and asked their classmates Logan and Trisha to come along. In the park they ran into Logan’s best friend Jeffrey who was there with his friend Ruby. The more the merrier, especially this time of year, so the six teens spent some time together having a snowballfight.

Screenshot-552

Logan and Kyra also tried to do some spins together on the ice.

Screenshot-561

At 7, it was time for everyone to go home.

The next morning Kyra’s brothers were up very early. It was Christmas after all! To make sure they wouldn’t break the whole house down, Jacob took his twins to the beach behind their house.

Screenshot-566

Kyra stayed at home. She had… umm… something else to do…

Screenshot-564As soon as she had finished, she went down to the beach too though. It looked like the men could use some help!Screenshot-570

Screenshot-571When they were tired of whacking snowballs at each other, Jacob suggested they’d try to build an igloo.

Nathan was too restless for this job and made a snow angel instead.

Screenshot-575His brother Nick, sister and father built a great igloo though

Screenshot-576

After many hours on the beach, the Cook children and their dad were very cold and went back to the house, where dad played a game with his boys

Screenshot-579While Lucy started the preparations for their Christmasdinner

Screenshot-580When the turkey was in the oven, the whole family gathered outside to roast some marshmallows at the firepit

Screenshot-582

Lucy had to go in rather soon, because she wasn’t feeling very well. And at Christmas! Poor Lucy…

Screenshot

Despite feeling ill, Lucy still managed to set the table in time for dinner.

Screenshot-3Pretty soon, the Cook family was enjoying a lovely Christmas dinner

Screenshot-9Which Jacob ate with chopsticks for some reason… I know he’s half Chinese, but this was still quite a surprise!

Screenshot-20After the turkey there was of course some dessert

Screenshot-22When the table was cleared and everyone was feeling very full, it was time for presents!

From the parents to the kidsScreenshot-27

And from the parents to each other

Screenshot-32Those small packages contained various wonderful things. And everyone was very happy with what they had received. Curious? This is what they got!

presents

The next Christmas day began at the Harvey family house. Charlotte was up very early to start cooking. She may be a master chef, but cooking a fancy three course dinner for a family of nine is quite a job, even for her. So, she started early, still in her pyjamas.

Screenshot-38And, Christmas or not, dogs need to be walked. Since Jones is officially Logan’s dog, Logan was the one braving the cold to take Jones out for his walk.

Screenshot-40They walked their usual route to the play park where they played for a while… (Find Jones, apparently)

Screenshot-51… and then headed back

Screenshot-52Back home, Aaron was playing whack your daughter in the face with some snow

Screenshot-60

Screenshot-57And Charlotte had set up the table before the guests would arrive

Screenshot-62Around three, they all showed up. Alice and Simon were first.

Screenshot-67But soon, Charlotte’s brother Alexander arrived as well, along with Jenny and Suzan.

Screenshot-68

The kids were especially happy everyone was on time, because as soon as the whole party was present, it was gift giving time!

Despite there being plenty of seats on the sofas, the gentlemen all decided to sit on the chairs at the table…

Screenshot-72…while the ladies chose the comfort of the sofas (Suzan, I’m not sure that’s an appropriate outfit for your formal family Christmas…)

Screenshot-74The first gift was for Emily

Screenshot-75It contained a honeybee rider. I think Emily might be a bit old for that, but fair enough.

Then it was Logan’s turn

Screenshot-77You may not believe it, but that little parcel contained a bicycle! He was quite happy with it.

The rest of the family was happy with their gifts too, except for Simon, who mumbled something and didn’t look too pleased with what he got.

Before long, it was time to start with the first course of the formal dinner: Bouillabaisse!

Screenshot-83

Screenshot-85That went down rather well! Then the second course was brought to the table: a choice of lobster or steak

Screenshot-87Alexander and his family (and Simon too) left before Charlotte could bring dessert to the table, but her mother stayed for a delicious piece of pie!

Screenshot-93After this dinner, the whole family seemed to have grown a dresssize, but hey, that’s Christmas.

That brought Christmas in Honeycomb Valley to an end.

Well, almost…

Because, Christmas or not, dogs need to be walked.

September 03: Back to School

The Day Before

September came round and soon school and university would be starting again for the kids, teens, students and teachers of Honeycomb Valley. As per usual, the day before school would start again, The Beehive opened its doors to the kids and teens who would be starting in primary school or high school after summer. To get acquainted. Of course the parents were invited too.

Ellie and Liam were a bit nervous, but not as much as their mums, probably!

Holly, Kyra, Logan and John Jr. finally got to explore “upstairs” now that they were teenagers. They, and their parents, met with Benjamin, who will be their class mentor for the next two years.

After the new kids and teens had left, it was time for the teachers to get together for a quick “beginning of the year” briefing and of course some catching up.

The first day

The next morning, the first day of the school year was finally there. This wasn’t just exciting for the kids and teens. Maths teacher Pierce also felt just a little bit nervous. He had started teaching at The Beehive in January, but with the new year came new responsibilities and the new beginning is always just a bit nervewracking either way.
He kissed Loretta goodbye and got on his bike to go to school.

Half an hour after Pierce arrived at school, so did the pupils.

From the seniors…
(And is that Finn thinking of Sadie in the background?…)

…to the kids! (And VERY pregnant Annabel who dropped off her youngest daughter for her first day)

At 9.00 everyone was inside and ready to get started!

The kids

Liam and Ellie turned 5 over summer and had been looking forward to their first day in Miss Eva‘s class. Riley and Ruth, who are also in their class, were already 6. For them it all wasn’t so new anymore, although they would get a lot of new challenges too this year.  Eva gave the kids a few minutes to get used to each other and their environment.
*** Gameplay note: as you might have read in my post on Education, kids of two different ages are in the same class. It’s like this in class I teach in real life as well. It helps me fill my classes. ***

When all the kids had found a seat, Eva started with her “welcome to class” speech. She explained what was going to happen this year and what the rules are.

After a while, attention was clearly dwindling, so Eva put the kids to work. The two youngest ones got a half hour of free play, while Eva gave some maths instructions to Ruth and Riley.

Ellie wanted to know when they were going to play outside…

The teens

One floor up, our “new” teens were experiencing their first day too. Their first lesson was Science, taught by Mr. Murray. Here too, there was time for a few minutes of chitchat before getting down to business.

John didn’t waste any time to show his feelings of superiority towards his classmates. When Kyra kindly asked him how his summer had been, he responded rather rudely…

Logan saw it too.

And there was a new girl in class!  Her name is Trisha and she moved to Honeycomb Valley with her brother Garett, who’s a photographer. Trisha and Garett will be properly introduced in time. All of her new classmates, with the exception of John, welcomed her warmly.

Then Elliot felt it was time to begin the lesson, so he called everyone to take their seats.

Science is VERY fascinating…

(Although, maybe not for Holly, who somehow managed to stay out of most pictures I took. Maybe she’s camera shy?)

The students

For the students at Honeycomb University, lessons were also starting again. Two weeks after the kids and teens went back, so did they.
***Side noteHarry Newman graduated High School in 02. At that time, the university hadn’t yet been built, so technically, this would have been his first year. However, knowing Harry’s father the mayor, I didn’t think he would approve of his son doing “nothing” for a year. So I decided to pretend Harry had already had a year of university education behind him. Read about my university system in the education post.***

Two new first year students moved into the Student Residence to live there with Harry (second year history), Narai* (second year science) and Lola* (third year linguistics): Mia, who will be studying medicine and Chris*, who will be a music student.

A new university building had been built over the last months and the students all agreed it was a great building, with a quiet library…

…a cafe with good food…

… and a nice terrace.

That night they celebrated the start of the academic year at the local (student)pub, The Bumblebee.

The year was off to a great start!

July 03: Travels To Distant Lands Pt. 1: China

Aaron and Charlotte Harvey always dreamt of visiting China, but because they had kids before they had a chance to, they had to wait. Now that Logan and Emily were 13 and 11, their parents felt they were old enough for a trip like that, so in July 03, the Harvey Family packed their bags and traveled all the way to China.

The hotel had a lot of steps, but it didn’t matter, they were in CHINA!

Logan and Emily shared a room next to their parents’. It was a great room.

A familypicture was taken in front of The Temple of Heaven, but the temple was so impressive, it distracted the family slightly…

It was beautiful though…

Later that day it was time for some real Chinese food.

Emily handled the chopsticks her way. 😉

The next morning they went to see some more sights, like the Terracotta Army.

Say cheese!

A few days later they visited the Dragon’s Maw, it was huge and impressive.

And the views from up there were gorgeous…

Logan wanted to try Martial Arts, so later that holiday they went to the Resolute Fist Retreat

Keep practicing Logan!

He did eventually earn a belt.

And then there was Liu, a girl Logan met at the retreat. She spoke a bit of Simlish which she learnt in school, so they could communicate.

Liu was really nice…

The girls spent the last day of their holiday reading at a campside, while the men in the family tried their luck at fishing.

Before long, it was time to say goodbye to new friends and head back home again. Hopefully we’ll meet again someday…
