July 05: Windiwell Revisited (Pt. 3)

Go back to…

part 2

Unfortunately, Lison wasn’t the only one catching the flu. Kylie got ill too and had to stay in bed as well.
With Kylie out of the running, the task of entertaining the teens fell entirely on (childish) Don. And the ideas he had weren’t always met with much enthusiasm. Like his plan to go the ranch. Although Molly, Holly and Kyra liked this, the rest of the gang was rather bored here. And it turned out it wasn’t much fun for the girls either, as there were no horses available to ride.

Molly did ask this local lady if she could perhaps ride her horse, but she wanted none of it.

Screenshot-215

However, Molly persisted and eventually, the lady said yes. Molly was over the moon! She missed her horse Butter and was happy to ride again.

Screenshot-218

Don then took the kids (apart from Molly, who he allowed to stay at the ranch. In a strange town. By herself. While he is responsible.) to the football field, which they liked a little better. Jeffrey and his new friend Elliott had a little one on one and Logan and Khalid took turns showing one another what they could do with a ball.

And Don played guitar…football skills

Holly challenged Ben to a shootout as well, but Ben is much more athletic than he may seem, because he caught every ball she tried to get in and scored every time while she was in goal.

one on one

Silas and Kyra meanwhile only had eyes for each other. Screenshot-229

Don showed his maturity by giving Jeffrey a scare. At least someone was having a good time…

Screenshot-236

Apart from Don, the kids got fed up with the football field before long and they all went back to Windiwell to spend the rest of the afternoon doing their own thing.

Molly and Holly immediately went to take in some sun.Screenshot-237

While friends Logan, Jeffrey and Ben did the thing they love best: fishing!

Screenshot-238

Kyra and Silas had a game of gnubb…

Screenshot-239

..and some closer contact.gnubb romance

Don also had to take care of dinner, so salad it was!

Screenshot-247

After dinner, he made a fire, so they could have marshmallows for dessert.

Screenshot-253

Both Don and Khalid burnt theirs though.burnt marshmellows

Jeffrey didn’t join the group at the fire, he had something much more interesting to do. He found a bird! A nuthatch! How adorable! He decided to try and bring it home and named it Noosa.

Screenshot-256

Holly and Khalid also wandered away from the group after a while for a bit more stargazing before bed.

Screenshot-267

Another day, another breakfast. Which Elliott ate by himself at a separate table… And hey, look who’s up!breakfastThankfully it had only taken a few days for Lison and Kylie to feel better again. Which was a good thing, because the end of their stay was fast approaching.

The plan today was to go windsurfing! Yeah! All teens (and Don) loved this plan!
windsurf

They stopped at the field again. It looked like Noosa was already feeling quite comfortable with Jeffrey because she (he?) showed up there as well.Screenshot-281

Waterballoon fight!

Screenshot-283

In the afternoon, the wind turned and they all got back on their boards to return to the beach. Don stayed behind, because he wasn’t done windsurfing yet.

When he eventually did come back he approached fast and showed up his skills by navigating his board through the swimming kids.

Screenshot-285

While Don was actually quite proud of what he could do with his board,  Kylie was getting fed up with his childish behaviour and took him apart to give him a piece of her mind.childish

“What were you thinking out there?! You could have taken someone’s head off! Stop being so irresponsible! You’re an ADULT! This camp isn’t about you having a good time, it’s about THEM having a good time! And I hear you even left Molly alone on the ranch a few days ago! You’re so childish Don, I don’t know if I can do this with you anymore!”

Don thought Kylie was overreacting.

While Don and Kylie were fighting, this happened in the background….
unexpeted flirt

Wow… Was it because Kyra had something going on with Silas now? Was it jealousy? Whatever it was, Logan, who never paid anything other than friendly attention to Kyra, suddenly couldn’t stop flirting with her.
It confused Kyra greatly. She didn’t flirt back. But this was still Logan…

***Note: as stated previously, I don’t control flirts at Windiwell. I saw Logan flirting with Kyra whilst focused on Kylie and Don. She really is a good girl though and despite it being Logan (whom she’s had “kiss wishes” for ever since she became a teen), she never flirted back. She responded with shy smiles to all his flirts, but then proceeded to “ask about day” and stuff like that. He however, couldn’t stop flirting with her and holding her hands and giving her amorous hugs…)

Molly witnessed the whole thing with interest. Was this so she had something new to gossip about with Holly? Or was it because she wanted to tell her friend Silas someone else was showing interest in Kyra?

No. It turned out Molly was this interested because it gave her an idea. Holly had kissed a boy. Kyra had kissed a boy and now even had another flirting with her. Even Lison had kissed a boy (Elliott, in the very beginning, after they just arrived). She didn’t want to be the only girl not getting kissed this summer! So when Jeffrey stepped out of the water, Molly approached him.

waterflirt

“Wow… You’ve gotten so tan. It looks good on you…”
“Ummm, thanks?”
“Come with me to that tree, I need to show you something”
“O…kay…”

And so Jeffrey joined Molly under the tree and she didn’t waste any time making her move.
She caught him completely by surprise and he didn’t know what to think at first, but hey, if a girl kisses you, what’s a 16 year old boy to do?

another kiss

***Note: it was actually really funny. Molly watched the scene between Logan and Kyra with interest and then went straight up to Jeffrey -whom she only talked to a few times up until then- and started flirting with him. The wish to kiss him came up almost instantly too. So I interpreted it like she didn’t want to be the only girl going home unkissed.***

The last days passed quickly and before long, the last night was upon them. This year, they would leave on a night bus after their karaoke night.

First it was grouppicture time though!

Screenshot-318

Silas and Elliott had the last kitchen duty.last washing up

After which Silas shared a moment with Kyra on the platform.rendezvous

And Molly and Jeffrey discovered a lizard.

Screenshot-333

Then it was time for the traditional last night stuff. Karaoke started a bit earlier than usual due to the fact the bus would leave around 11.Screenshot-335

Despite their argument and the fact that Kylie still didn’t think she could do this with Don another year, they did do the opening number together. Because he is a good singer.

Screenshot-339

The kids, with the exception of Ben, also seemed to like it.

Screenshot-337

Molly and Holly, or “The Ollies”, as they had started to call themselves, also did a duet.

Screenshot-343

The crowd seemed less enthusiastic this time round…

Screenshot-344

Kyra and Lison, Logan and Jeffrey and Silas as a solo artist also did a song. After which all of them had the wish to be professional singers. I don’t think that’s a good idea for any of you, kids, sorry…
sing

After karaoke, they all got their bags.

Screenshot-354

Don told a final ghost story while they waited for the bus.

Screenshot-356

And then it was over and they started their nightly busride.

Screenshot-359

It was morning when the bus arrived in Honeycomb Valley where Kyra, Holly, Logan and Jeffrey had to get off and were greated by familymembers and dogs. home

Kyra started to tell her mother everything about camp. Although… not everything obviously. Silas was kept out of her stories for now. I mean, this is her mother.
Screenshot-365

Even though they were happy to see their parents again, both Holly and Kyra sent their parents away and told them they would come home by themselves so they could say goodbye to their friends and summer romances in private.

Blank squared

After goodbyes, Molly, Silas, Benjamin, Lison, Elliott and Khalid got back in the bus which would take them home as well. Bye bye lovelies, it was so much fun to spend this summer with you! We will miss you!

Screenshot-374

And with that bus leaving, July had ended, but summer had not yet! Oh no, summer still had a lot more in store for Honeycomb Valley… But more on that another time!

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Where do we go from here?

So, now that the bus has left and the group has been split up again, what will happen to the friendships and more intimate connections my simmies made at summercamp? And what will happen to summercamp itself after that fight between Kylie and Don? Will there be another Camp Windiwell next simyear?
Truth is, I don’t know. As far as the friendships and romances are concerned, it’s not entirely up to me as Sandy, Sara and Alex may have plans for their simmies as well. But this is my view on it;
Kyra really likes Silas. She’s not the type of girl to just go around kissing boys for fun. So she wouldn’t have kissed him if she didn’t really like him. I think that from her end she will surely try to keep things going with him for a while. However, as we could see, one look from Logan and she still melts. Her crush on him is deep rooted. If he keeps all this flirting up, it will cause serious dilemma’s for our Kyra. The moment on the beach already quite confused her.
Holly is different. She wanted to kiss a boy this summer and that’s what she did. I don’t see her as the type of girl who takes her summer fling with Khalid very seriously. She will probably text him a few times and wouldn’t be against a few more kisses if they’d ever meet again, but if she meets someone else, or he does, so be it. It’s all good.
Jeffrey is not entirely sure what that kiss with Molly had been about. It was just that one kiss, even though they did hang out a lot after it. I can see them staying friends, but if she wanted more, he would be open to that as well.
As far as Windiwell goes. Hmmm… I’m starting to think I’ve gotten everything out of it that I could have gotten out of it and things are becoming a bit repetitive. I’ll have to see how I feel when summer rolls round again. Time will tell.

Lastly, to my dear Sandy, Sara and Alex; thank you for your teens, I’ve had a blast with them. I’m sorry some of them didn’t get as much “screentime” as some of the others, but dividing attention equally between this many sims isn’t always easy. I also had to limit the number of pictures otherwise this would have been a 5 part story! But here are two bonus pictures for you:

The Ollies being silly (this wasn’t posed!)

July 05: Windiwell Revisited (Pt. 2)

Go back to…
part 1

Over the next few days, the warm weather persisted (yes, even with all these clouds) and on one of those hot days, the group headed to the pool.

And look, Lison and Elliott are being friendly again!

Screenshot-110

Or… maybe not…

Screenshot-108

Lison was really starting to get fed up with Elliott constantly insulting her and berating her ignorance. Maybe he didn’t mean it that way, but it certainly didn’t make her happy. She felt they’d be better of just being friends, and told him so.

***Note: I’m sorry Alex, I’m sorry Sandy, I didn’t mean to break them up. And certainly not this way! I figured maybe this would happen if Lison flirted with Silas a lot, but she didn’t. I don’t know if it’s Elliott’s social awkward trait, but each time I saw him with Lison he was “berating (her) ignorance”. I had set them to romantic interests when they arrived, but with all his insults, they were soon down to acquintances. By this point Lison already had the wish to “just be friends”, but didn’t even get the chance to tell him this, since he had already insulted her to the point of them losing their romantic interest status.***

Poor Elliott, he had so been looking forward to this camp. He had fallen out with most of his classmates at school, so he needed a break. And he would be with Lison again! He hadn’t expected this… What did he do wrong?
Jeffrey, always being the good guy, sat down with him in case he needed to talk.

Screenshot-115

Things were better between Khalid and Holly, with her still flirting shamelessly and him admiring her bikini look.

Screenshot-116

The flirting back and forth between Holly and Khalid went on for most of the afternoon…

Screenshot-114

Dinnertime!

Screenshot-120

Holly and Jeffrey had washing up duty. He wasn’t pleased…

Screenshot-124

After dinner, the kids had some free time. Khalid had set himself a challenge. Keeping the ball up on a small ridge by the pond and not letting it fall in! (he actually chose this spot on his own…)Screenshot-125

Meanwhile, Silas and Kyra (and Ben…) had gone up to the little island where Silas felt the need to tell Kyra she looked really beautiful. Yeah… Silas wasn’t Logan, but Kyra did feel a little tickle in the pit of her stomach when he said that…

Screenshot-126

Back in the common room, Holly took Molly apart to tell her all about how she and Khalid had been flirting all afternoon.

Screenshot-128

Speak of the devil…

Screenshot-131

“Psst, Hols, your boyfriend is coming over!’

Molly was right, Khalid was coming over. Since it had now gotten dark, he wanted to ask Holly if she wanted to watch the stars with him. She happily agreed.

Screenshot-133

After what happened with Saskia on the last trip Khalid had gone on, he decided to take a more subtle approach this time.

Screenshot-139

First a gentle touch and then…

Screenshot-140

To be honest Khalid, I think you would have had success with Holly no matter how you kissed her!

The next morning, the first thing Holly did was inform Molly of the events of last night.

boy gossip

“He totally kissed me!’
“Really?! Was it good!? How did he do it!? Are you going out now?!”
Molly wanted to know everything!

They didn’t get a lot of time to chat though, since it was the warmest day yet, they were heading off to the beach!

Screenshot-151

Holly realised she hadn’t even told Kyra about her kiss yet, so she made sure she did.

Screenshot-153

They were interrupted by Molly though.

Screenshot-156

“Psst Hols, he’s soooo checking you out from over there! Maybe he wants some more kisses!”

Wait, what? Kyra thought. Molly already knew about Holly’s kiss? She didn’t say anything to Holly, but it sure hurt. They were supposed to be best friends! They had always shared everything! And now Holly had shared a big life changing experience with Molly first! Kyra tried not to let it get to her, but when Logan (of all people) asked her what was wrong, she couldn’t hold it in.

Screenshot-157“She’s my BEST friend! And now it’s all Molly this, Molly that!”
“Aww, cheer up! You and Holly have been friends for ages, this girl is not going to change this. Besides, after camp, she’s going back to Bimlico! You know what, come with me to the ocean, it’ll get your mind off of it!”

Even though Kyra had been hoping for at least a hug, she did join Logan in the ocean.

Screenshot-158

Meanwhile Jeffrey and Lison were having a casual chat in the sand.

Screenshot-160

When the day progressed, Kylie rented paddle boats for the group, so they could go down the river.

Screenshot-163

Some of them liked this, others not so much…swans 1 swans 2

They stopped at a field down the river to have a picnic.
(Look how tan these kids are getting!)

Screenshot-173

After the picnic, Holly pulled Khalid apart to a more secluded place for a repeat of last night. (You sure that’s a good idea in swimwear…?)
Screenshot-179

When Don played guitar, Silas again asked Kyra to dance with him. She in turn started to feel that tickly feeling in her stomach again.

slow dance

When the others were already starting to paddle back to the beach, Silas held Kyra back for a while.

Screenshot-186

“You know Kyra… I really, sorta, like you. You’re cool…”
“Yeah… I think… I kinda like you too…”

Screenshot-187

“So umm…. I was thinking… Can I maybe kiss you…?”
“Hehe… Yes… you can…”

kiss

***Note: When Kyra and Silas met on the first day and started chatting, he immediately got the wish to kiss her for the first time. I know Silas has a crush on Ofelia back home, but she kissed his brother at camp last year. Which he may or may not know about. He made a real and unexpected connection with Kyra though and even though I was thinking this would be the summer Kyra and Logan would hook up, she was constantly near Silas and flirting back. She didn’t get the wish to kiss him until they were out on this field though, but when she did, I decided this was inevitable. It wasn’t like Logan was showing any kind of interest in her…***

Back at the beach, Ben, Elliott and Khalid were being athletic.

Screenshot-194

Once Silas and Kyra arrived back at the beach as well, they remained inseparable.

Screenshot-198

Since it was such a lovely day, Kylie and Don decided they would have dinner at the beach as well.
Lison even sat with Elliott, although she doesn’t look very happy about it… The kids sitting outside clearly received more sun this day…beach food

It turned out it wasn’t the food nor the company which cause Lison to pull that face. Unfortunately, she was falling ill… Knowing her responsibility, Kylie took Lison to the doctors.

Screenshot-206

The doctor informed Kylie it looked like it was just flu and ordered bedrest for Lison for a few days. While this wasn’t how Lison had pictured camp, she felt so lousy she did like the idea of just being in bed. She got to borrow a book from Logan who had brought loads anyway and then off to bed it was. Get well soon, Lison!

Screenshot-209

The others were sad having to miss Lison for a few days, but for them, camp obviously still went on… Read about that in…

part 3

July 05: Windiwell Revisited (Pt. 1)

Screenshot-10

If you’re thinking, ‘hmm… This does not look like Honeycomb Valley…’, you’re right! It’s not! We have arrived in Appaloosa Plains for the third annual addition of Camp Windiwell. The summercamp proved to be more popular each year and teens from many places other than just Honeycomb Valley were signing up.

After a long busride camp counselors Don and Kylie had arrived with 10 teens. This year the group consists of the following teens:

From Enekjaer:
* Khalid Farsi (16)
* Elliott McGovern (16)

From Bimlico:
* Silas Day (15)
* Molly Hayes (14)

From Sandy Valley:
* Lison Desfranges (13)
* Benjamin Evard (14)

From Honeycomb Valley:
* Jeffrey Abbott (16)
* Holly Clark (14)
* Kyra Cook (14)
* Logan Harvey (15)

Some teens in this group have some history together.
Lison and Elliott are a couple, well, kind of, because how serious can a long distance relationship with a 13 year old get, really? They met when Lison went on an exchange to Enekjaer and really liked each other. They also met again, when Elliott visited Sandy Valley a while later and that stay was again wonderful for both parties. However, Lison also had a crush on Silas last summer when he visited Sandy Valley.

Molly met Holly and Kyra in Honeycomb Valley when she was there for the Athletic Festival in March. She particularly made a connection with Holly as both girls love horses, gossiping and talking about boys! Molly has a huge crush on Seth Day, Silas’ twin, but unfortunately, he’s not here.

Logan and Benjamin became good friends when they met at Windiwell last year. They both love fishing and dogs so they have lots to talk about.

Kyra has had a crush on her friend Logan for YEARS, but he doesn’t seem to notice her. Not as anything other than a friend that is. They watched the stars together last summer, but that’s it. Nothing more happened, through out the entire year…

Now, that’s a little background, now, let’s see what they got up to, shall we?

————————————————-

After the kids brought their stuff to their cabins, they assembled at the stage to hear what Don and Kylie had to say.

IntroductionDon and Kylie explained the rules and told the kids when they were up for kitchen duty. Then Kylie said that, instead of doing the grouppicture at the beginning of camp, they would do it at the end, but she did want to snap a polaroid picture of each of them accompanied by an assignment. Each teen would receive their picture with the camp name and their own name printed on it and was asked to write on the picture what they expected from Camp Windiwell, what they hoped and wished for this summer or why they came here. They were told to hang on to these pictures so that by the end of camp they could look back and see if what they wrote actually happened. Just for fun! The pictures were private and wouldn’t be shared with the group. (But will be shared here, Simlish translated to English for easy reading. 😉 )

polaroids 1

Polaroids 2Polaroids 3

We’ll see how much of that will actually happen…

After all this, the teens had the rest of the day to themselves to explore the camp and get (re-)acquainted.  Logan and Khalid weren’t off to a great start…

Good start

Lison and Elliott did better and immediately went for a game of gnubb together.

Screenshot-24

Kyra and Silas discovered a turtle which they watched together for a long time. Fascinating!

Screenshot-27

Molly and Holly were already back to gossiping!

Screenshot-11.jpg

Ben found a banister to slide down.

Screenshot-31

Lison also had a chat with Silas. Now that she was with Elliott, she suddenly had no trouble talking to Silas anymore. She still thought he was cute though!

Screenshot-29

***Note: I guess this is a good point in the story to make a little gameplay note. When I play Windiwell, I play by different rules than when my sims are home. Because I have a big town and my sims go about their business when I’m not there, I use Nraas Story Progression to make sure they don’t autonomously make babies, break up, cheat and the works. I don’t like going back to a family I haven’t played in a while and find the parents divorced and mum pregnant by another man. But at Windiwell, I turn the flirt and romance options of SP on again, so the teens can decide for themselves who they’ll flirt (and fight) with and all that. Makes for a much more interesting summer and since they’re in Appaloosa Plains. the settings won’t affect my sims in Honeycomb Valley. I don’t control flirts at Windiwell at all. Not even if I think two sims would be good together. At the first edition of camp, Finn and Esme got together that way even though I would never have thought of them as a couple before that summer. Once two sims BOTH have the wish to kiss one another, I do help them out. In my experience, autonomous kisses between teens who are not yet romantically involved are quite rare, so I will help them there, but only if BOTH parties have the wish to do so. Other than that, they’re on their own…  So when Lison went up to Silas I just watched. They ended up just chatting though.***

I don’t know if Elliott was jealous because Lison had talked to Silas, or if something else was going on, but suddenly this happened:

trouble in paradiseHe was “berating her ignorance”. She didn’t like it.

Logan looked up Kyra to do the cool kids greet. It’s not exactly romance, but at least he was paying attention to her…

Screenshot-47

And Lison and Elliott continued their discussion inside…

Screenshot-43

Rain fell that night, so the teens spent the night indoors and then were told to go to their cabins for the night. First brush your teeth though! Kyra and Silas were again having a chat. It looks like these two will be very good friends.

Screenshot-57

While her best friend Holly stayed behind in the bathroom to gossip with Molly, Kyra made a new friend of her own.

new friend

And of course summercamp isn’t summercamp without a good PILLOWFIGHT!

Screenshot-62

The next morning Kylie woke up early to make breakfast.

Screenshot-64

Benjamin was up early too. The fish tend to bite more in the mornings, you know!

Screenshot-66

After breakfast Logan and Kyra had kitchen duty. Privacy for these two! Guess what they did!Screenshot-68

They just cleaned. Exciting stuff!

Luckily the rain had disappeared and it was in fact a very warm day. Since most kids (and Don) wanted to go to the Summerfestival, that’s where they went!

Screenshot-71

Once there, Khalid and Logan had a good chat (in a barn?). It seems that, despite their rocky start, these two are actually starting to get along.

Screenshot-79

Benjamin and Molly tried out the rollerskating rink. Not entirely successfully…
rollerskate

Lison and Kyra had some ice.

Screenshot-85

Soon it got busier on the rollerskating rink.

Screenshot-90

Some skaters clearly were more talented than others…

talent

And then there was Don, who actually is the biggest kid of all, because he, autonomously, went to get his face painted.

Screenshot-96

Molly and Holly decided to have a waterballoon fight. These two were really starting to become inseparable!

Screenshot-98

But Molly did take a break to “enthuse about dogs” to Logan. Score! There’s nothing Logan loves more than dogs, so he obviously thought Molly was pretty cool after this.

Screenshot-102

In the midst of all this, were Kyra and her new friend Silas. Slowdancing. Kyra was really starting to like this new boy who was being so charming towards her. Was Logan getting some competition?

Screenshot-100

Holly decided if she wanted to “kiss a cute boy” like she wrote on her picture, action needed to be taken. And she already picked out who the boy had to be. He was charming, sexy and 16! So she decided to try a little flirting on Khalid.

Holly was no Edyta, that much was sure, but Khalid had come for distraction and distraction she was. Blonde distraction. So he didn’t hesitate to flirt back.

Screenshot-105

When the day drew to an end the kids decided to have a big waterballoon fight together. Well, with the exception of Molly and Ben who were entering in an eating contest (blergh) and Elliott who was still making twirls on the rollerskating rink.

Screenshot-107

It had been a good and eventful first day and a lot was still to come! Read about that in…

part 2

Day 4: Basketball, Swimming and goodbyes

The last day of the Honeycomb Valley Athletic Festival started with basketball. As had been the case the previous day, the teens started the day. Also similar to football was the fact that everyone had been coupled up. Each couple had a hoops contest in which they each got three shots at the hoop. The one of the pair with the most baskets would proceed to the next round, which was dunks. The person winning that round would have their points from both matches added to decide whether they won 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.

But they started off with hoops.
Martha lost her match against Joel, which was unsurprising as immediately afterwards she fell asleep on the bench…

basketball teens

When Finn was up against Silas, Rachel couldn’t stop looking at him. *Sigh*, he’s still so dreamy, and, most importantly, single again!

Screenshot-456

Meanwhile, Esme had made a new friend. Ah yes, I can totally see why these girls hit it off!

Screenshot-458

Allison was good at more than just giggles and gossip, which she proved by beating Finn in the dunking round.dunks

Rachel fell during her match against Seth, but still managed to beat him.

Screenshot-462

In the end, Allison won first place, Billy came in second, and Rachel got third place.

Then the sims aged 18 or over had their turn. basketball over 18

Both Seth and Sarah made it to round 2, where they ended up playing each other. Despite Seth being really good, Sarah won this match. Maybe Seth let his girlfriend win…?

Screenshot-478

Two very serious women in round 2…

Screenshot-484

Evelyn won! Amy landed a silver medal, and Sarah got bronze. Well done, ladies!

The next event of the day was swimming.
Joel was up against Ruby and Allison. He really wanted to win this, since he hadn’t won anything yet.

Screenshot-488

And he did! He reached the end of the pool, before Allison had even gotten into the water. Maybe she felt her golden basketball medal was enough?

Screenshot-489

The next match was between Emily, Trisha and Jérémy. Emily won this match.

Screenshot-490

Then it was Ofelia, Sophie and Jeffrey battling it out.

Screenshot-491

After Ofelia’s unfortunate slip on the diving board (she wasn’t hurt), Jeffrey won.Screenshot-495

And so, the final was between Jeffrey, Emily and Joel.

swim final teens

It may not be very clear to see in this picture, but Joel beat Jeffrey by a slight margin. Finally, gold for Joel!

Screenshot-504

Soon after, the adults were ready for their matches.
Mary, David and Wendy were up first. Nice dive Mary!jump

Whether it had been that great dive or something else, Mary was on a roll and easily won her match.

Screenshot-509

Then it was her husband’s turn. Joshua was up against Erika and Kai.

Screenshot-511

He didn’t land in the water as gracefully as his wife had done though…fall

But it didn’t matter, despite that awful landing, Joshua still won!

Screenshot-520

Annie got to battle it out with her ex boyfriend and Eva.

Screenshot-523

As you can see, Rémi won, but I’m still doubting whether he didn’t cheat at the start…

Screenshot-525

And so, the final was between Mary, Rémi and Joshua.

Screenshot-528

And they’re off!

Screenshot-531

Oooooh… this is going to be close…

Screenshot-537

Rémi won, but only just. Joshua ended in second place and Mary brought home her second bronze medal.

Screenshot-538

Of course Emily, Joel and Jeffrey also received their medals.

Screenshot-544

As did the basketball winners.

Screenshot-548

Screenshot-551

And so, all the sports had been played. The time to close the festival had come. And for this occasion, a party had been organised on the football field.
Even when it was still early, people already started to gather on the field.

Screenshot-558

Sophie and Jérémy had a little dance, but hey, look who’s interfering again…

Screenshot-562

Joshua is not one for parties, so he read his book instead.

Screenshot-564

No Honeycomb Valley event is complete without a performance by The Hot Wings.

Screenshot-566 concert

People seemed to enjoy their performance.

Screenshot-572

Lucas tended the bar again.

Screenshot-577

He was really loving it, just as he had at his aunts anniversary a month ago and was starting to wonder if maybe bartender would be a better profession for him than kitchen scullion…

Screenshot-579

The party ended before the evening fell, because in the evening the buses to Bimlico and Sandy Valley would come in to take the visitors back home again.

Screenshot-582

The bus to Bimlico came in first. Patty bid the guest farewell.

Screenshot-590

And Holly came to say goodbye to her new friend as well. Maybe they’ll see each other again soon? There’s this great summercamp coming up again next summer?bye bye friend

After the Bimlico residents had left, it was the bus to Sandy Valley which rolled into the station.
Xandra came to say goodbye to Rémi. I’m not sure what Annie was thinking witnessing her ex boyfriend cheating on yet another girlfriend…

Screenshot-601

Sophie had LOVED having Jérémy this close for a while and really didn’t like having to say goodbye to him again. You’ll probably see him again soon though, Soph. I’m sure of it!

Screenshot-606

Allison and Esme said goodbye by doing what they do best: gossiping!

Screenshot-609

Luke also had a few goodbyes to take care off. Goodbye to his new friends Butter and Prince Noir!goodbye horses

Screenshot-589

And with Luke riding off to take the horses back to where they belong, the festival was really over. It had been good, but the residents of Honeycomb Valley were also looking forward to calmer times…

Day 3: Football, Equestrian, Martial Arts and some free time

The next morning was very excited for the Stevens family. Dylan would be the referee at the football matches (I’m European, I refuse to call it soccer, even if my game does 😉 ) today and both Sadie and Esme would participate. They started the day off with a family breakfast.

breakfast at stevens

“No phones at the table Esme.”
If looks could kill…

Julliet‘s waffles were welcomed by all.

Screenshot-174

The teens, who would play the first matches, all arrived at the stadium in time.
They had been divided into couples. Each couple would have a shootout. Player A would get three shots with player B in goal and then the roles would reverse. For every goal scored, or every ball saved, the player would get one point. After both players had their turn in goal, the points would be added up and the one with the most points would proceed to round 2. If both players had an equal amount of points, they would continue the shootout until one of them won.

Screenshot-182

And they were ready! There were some great shots and some brilliant saves.football teens

Some players didn’t take their job seriously at all, while others took it VERY seriously.serious vs not so serious

Esme, being the daughter of a professional football player, clearly knew what she was doing.

Screenshot-186

During halftime there was time for a bit of flirting.

Screenshot-212

After which Trisha, Jeffrey, Esme, Sadie, Seth and Amy played the second round.
Eventually the final went between the Stevens sisters…

battle of the sisters

Sadie won! Esme ended in second place and third place was for Trisha.
Sadie celebrated her victory by taking a selfie with her boyfriend.selfie

Then it was the adults’ turn! The same rules applied.football adults

Of course football isn’t football without someone overreacting to a fall…

Screenshot-244

During half time, there was, again, some flirting… Ummm, Xandra, Rémi has a girlfriend back home… Oh, never mind, it’s not like you care about things like that…

Screenshot-248

Rémi also found some time to do his university cheer…

Screenshot-252

During the second round, Rémi came up against Lexie. But halfway through their match, Lexie suddenly walked out of her goal…

Screenshot-266

…because she saw her husband flirting with Amelia!

Screenshot-267

Shame on you Christopher! Lexie is not one to stand for this kind of behaviour, even if it means she just lost her match!

Screenshot-268

Eventually, Xandra and Rémi had to battle it out for third place (Theo came first, and Amelia second).

Screenshot-275

Rémi won, and Xandra took the opportunity to umm… congratulate him on this win…

Screenshot-276

Rémi didn’t mind… Sorry Mei-Meikiss for the winner

After the football matches were over, we headed down to the ranch for the equestrian events!
The teens were up first, and could already be sure of a medal, since there were only three participants: Molly, Holly and Kyra.
Molly and Holly seemed to have more in common than similar names and a love for horses, because the first thing these two did was gossip.

Screenshot-284

Then it was time to get started! It was soon clear it had been a bit too soon for Holly and Kyra to participate in any type of match and Molly was the clear winner. Kyra came in second and Holly was third.teen horsesSoon after the adults got on their horses.

Screenshot-301

This seemed to be going a lot smoother…adult horses

The race was won by Jacqueline. Her son Harry came in second and Loretta won third place. (I’m sorry for not having a picture of Annie, Sandy, her race was over before I knew it…)

The riders had to head over to the stadium for the medal ceremony.
Here, the medals for the footballers were first handed out.

Screenshot-317

Screenshot-318

And then the riders got their medals.

Screenshot-320

Screenshot-322

The last event of the day was Martial Arts. Ofelia arrived at the stadium ready for her match and followed by Silas… Who wasn’t a participant…

Screenshot-326

The first match was between Esme and Jérémy, which Jérémy easily won. Logan competed with Ofelia and was also defeated.martial arts

The final between Jérémy and Ofelia was exciting. These two already knew each other from when they went to Camp Windiwell together and had discussed their mutual love for martial arts on more than one occasion. But who was the strongest…?martial arts final

In the end Jérémy won, which landed Ofelia a second place. Logan had won his match for third place against Esme and thus took home the bronze medal.

Screenshot-354

Since only two sims had signed up for the adult martial arts event, this unfortunately had to be cancelled.

When all the matches of the day were over, the athletes had the rest of the day to themselves. Holly had invited her new friend Molly to join Kyra and herself at the pool. Molly loved this plan and that’s why, an hour later, these two were at the pool. Gossiping. Again.

Screenshot-361

Kyra, being less of a gossip girl than her BFF, also liked Molly, but didn’t connect with her the way Holly did…

Screenshot-365

When the sun started to set on Honeycomb Valley, another foreign visitor was found on the beach with a certain blonde girl.

Screenshot-376

Even though Jérémy and Sophie were enjoying that sunset, they didn’t like how public this beach was and wanted to go somewhere a bit more private. Sophie told Jérémy there was a private beach a bit further ahead, but if belonged to the mayor and no one was allowed to go there.
The fact that it was forbidden only made the place more attractive as far as Jérémy was concerned and he convinced Sophie to sneak onto the little private beach anyway…

Screenshot-383

They hadn’t been there long though, when a voice saying “What are you doing here, this is private property” startled them.

It was Max, on one of his rounds.
Jérémy, being one smooth talker, apologised to Max, saying he “didn’t know” because he wasn’t from around here.

Screenshot-392

Max must have been in a good mood, because he let them of with a warning, but he did stress they had to be gone when he came round here again in a half hour.

Once Max was gone, Jérémy and Sophie sat down together for a little while longer.private spot

“You know”, Sophie said, “I do know of another private place…”

And so the two lovebirds ended up at the forbidden terrain in the industrial part of town.  They made a fire out of some wood and enjoyed finally being completely alone.

Screenshot-396

Jérémy looked around the terrain and noticed something…private spot 2

“I think that treehouse over there is even more private…”

It was.

Screenshot-406

Meanwhile, Johnathan was annoyed. He had come to Honeycomb Valley to participate in football and martial arts and he hadn’t even made to round 2 in the former and now the latter got cancelled! He decided to go down to The Bumblebee to drink away his sorrows.
Once there, he found this guy in front of him at the bar taking FOREVER to order a drink though and that was IT for Johnathan! He didn’t hesitate to give Andrew a piece of his mind! johnathan pub

But Andrew being the nice guy he is, didn’t get mad, but instead kindly asked Johnathan what had gotten him so angry.

Screenshot-422

After Johnathan had uttered his frustrations over the cancellation of the martial arts matches to Andrew, they soon became friends. Andrew did ask Johnathan if he could do a police interview with him though to which Johnathan agreed. Maybe he figure it was for some kind of newspaper…?

Screenshot-426

Back at the Rainbow Hostel, the Bimlico teens ended their day with a pillow fight!pillowfight

Joshua and Mary, who had booked a private room next to the dorm where the teens slept, knew they wouldn’t get much sleep that night…

Note

This day of the event took ages to play. Due to several crashes, I had to give up the idea of having spectators at the different sports after the football matches. By the end of this day I was totally fed up with the entire event. But I’m no quitter, so I did continue to play the rest of it.
Rémi’s kiss with Xandra wasn’t planned, it was just Xandra being Xandra. Even though I feel sorry for Mei-Mei, I did think kissing Xandra back fitted Rémi’s character. I can totally imagine him taking a “what happens in HV, stays in HV” kind of attitude. As for Sophie and Jérémy’s “step”; I just figured it was time for them. 🙂
Molly and Holly were the biggest joy of this day though! Sara and I had discussed how these two would probably hit it off, and so it made me laugh when the first thing they autonomously did when they met was gossip under a tree.
Silas following Ofelia to her Martial Arts match was also unplanned. He came on his own accord. I really do think this game knows things…
Oh and just to show you how this event really went, here’s a bonus picture taken during the teens’ football match. There’s one ref playing guitar, while the other is reading a book. Mary is telling a ghost story and Billy is passed out on the ground. *Sigh*, Sims will be Sims…

March 05: The Honeycomb Valley Athletic Festival (Pt.1)

The residents of Honeycomb Valley grew more and more excited by the day when March rolled around. March meant it was finally time for the long awaited Honeycomb Valley Athletic Festival in which local and foreign residents of all ages would compete in various sports.

Day 1: Arrivals of the foreign athletes

Mayor Henry had asked Honeycomb Valley’s biggest busybody most social resident, Patty, to welcome the foreign athletes to Honeycomb Valley and show them around town.
Patty being Patty took this job very seriously and dressed in the Honeycomb Valley’s town colours of orange and white, headed to the bus station early that March morning.

Screenshot-2

It was a good thing she left home early, because the bus from Bimlico was early as well and pulled in just as Patty arrived.

Screenshot-3

If any of the Bimlico residents was startled by the chattering blob of orange welcoming them to town, they didn’t show it. Instead they gracefully shook Patty’s hand and nodded their heads when she told them where the hostel was and that she would be there at 2:30 to start the tour around town.

Screenshot-7

Next, the bus from Sandy Valley arrived. Annie must have been surprised when this lady-in-orange welcomed her with two kisses on the cheek but she didn’t say.
(I was surprised, Annie and Patty had never met, but Patty greeted her with kisses. I’ve only seen this happen one time before and it was when Jacqueline greeted someone in Champs les Sims. It was like she knew Annie was originally French!)

SV arrivals

Jérémy also got welcomed with kisses, but these kisses were very much appreciated! Although, not so much by Erika, it seems. Maybe she doesn’t like public displays of affection?Jeremy arrival

Molly Hayes had not been on the bus from Bimlico. Luke and Susie had driven to Bimlico to pick up Molly’s horse Butter in the trailer, and Molly, not wanting to leave her horse with strangers, had been allowed to join them on the drive back.
Luke had also picked up Prince Noir from Sandy Valley a day earlier.

Screenshot-23

Aww, Molly and Butter are such good friends! Screenshot-24

Now that Molly had seen her horse was going to be well taken care of during their stay in Honeycomb Valley, Susie took her to the hostel where she’d be staying too.
Here, the athletes from Sandy Valley were already getting acquainted with the athletes from Bimlico. Allison seemed very interested in Billy..get acquainted

At 2:30 exactly, Patty gathered everyone in the lobby of the Rainbow Hostel to start her tour of Honeycomb Valley. “Make sure you keep an eye on me!” she told them. Well, Patty, you’re pretty hard to miss…

Screenshot-35

Molly was happy and excited to be here, even if she had to go on a tour with a lady in orange.

Screenshot-36

Johnathan and Rémi were less amused… But I think they hoped Patty would show them to the pub!

Screenshot-37

The first stop on the tour wasn’t a pub though, it was the City Hall. Patty shouted a bit of Honeycomb Valley history at the guests, but not everyone seemed interested.

Screenshot-41

Then, the group walked to the Parks of the Separated Sisters.

Screenshot-44

Here, Patty took the time to tell the urban legend of the sisters and how they got separated.parks

This story proved to be a bit too scary for Billy, who passed out. (He said it was because it was boring though, but I think he was just a bit of a coward 😉 )

Screenshot-53

Molly was still very happy and excited.

Screenshot-57

And Annie got totally caught up in the story.

Screenshot-60

Once the story was over, the group walked to the underground station to travel to Bumblebee Quarter.metro

Once there, Patty told them a bit about the history of this part of town, after which she left them to their own devices.

Screenshot-69

Ofelia immediately started mocking Erika. Don’t let her get to you too much, Erika, she can’t help it…

Screenshot-70

Joshua and Mary, neither of them sims who appreciate big groups of strangers, wandered off for some one on one time by the canals.

Screenshot-71

Rémi quickly found The Bumblebee and was so happy, he had a dance with bargirl Veronica.

Screenshot-72

Jérémy never even went along on the tour. For him, part of the whole purpose of coming to Honeycomb Valley was so he could hang out with his Sophie. They met in the playpark, where Esme and her cousin Isa were also hanging out.

Screenshot-74

This was unfortunate for our lovebirds, because Esme obviously immediately interfered in their rendezvous.

Screenshot-75

Thankfully, they were able to shake her off and spend some time together.

Screenshot-81

Day 2: The Honeycomb Valley Run

The next morning marked the start of the festival. The very first event would be the Honeycomb Valley Run. A run divided over three distances for three different age groups. The children, 5-11 years old, were up first. As you may remember from the apple bobbing at the last day of school past June, Ellie is very competitive and she was determined to win this run today. She got up early to make sure she was well prepared and finished her breakfast before her sister had even started.

Screenshot-85

Lots of people gathered for the opening of the festival. It was still quite cold this early spring morning, but hopefully the weather would pick up.

Screenshot-96

Mayor Henry opened the festival and introduced the judges/referees for the coming events:
Amelia Ward, professional swimmer, would judge swimming.
Dylan Stevens, professional football player, would judge football and basketball.
Christopher Brown, professional football player, would judge football and martial arts.
Luke Bennett, professional rider, would judge the equestrian event.

opening

The rules of the event were as follows:
* Professional athletes are not allowed to compete in the sport they specialise in, but are allowed to compete in other sports.
* Any form of favouring of family members or loved ones by judges will be punished with a substantial fee.
* All sports will be played out as individual matches. This means that, even in team sports such as football and basketball, the games will be played by shootouts/contests between two sims.
* Any athlete caught cheating will immediately be disqualified.
* Walking out of a match for whatever reason will be considered forfeiting the game and the athlete in question will not be allowed to re-enter the match.

Then, the children gathered at the start for their run.

Screenshot-102

And they were off! And look who it is in leading position? It’s Ellie!!ellie ahead

The run for the little ones wasn’t very long, it stretched from the stadium, down the hill, to the corner at City Hall and then back up again to the stadium. So after about a half hour, the children were appearing again, heading for the finish line. Who would win it…?

Screenshot-110

And the winner is… ELLIE! She did it! The Chapman brothers also made the podium, with Riley coming in second and Tyler coming in third.ellie wins

Once all the kids were in, it was the teens’ turn. Jérémy was the first foreigner to participate in an event.

Screenshot-118

The teens had to run a bit further and soon the distance between them grew. When Trisha was still on her way to the corner where they had to turn back, Jérémy was already on his way up again.trisha jeremy

After 48.08 minutes, the first runner made it across the finish line. It was Ruby!

Screenshot-128

She was followed by Logan and then Jérémy.

Screenshot-131

Medaltime!
Ellie seemed to think it was only right she won gold.

Screenshot-136

Jérémy wasn’t too bothered about this medal. After all, he came to win one in martial arts!

Screenshot-311

When the evening started to fall, all participants over 18 gathered at the start. It was a big group! Mary seemed very determined!

Screenshot-137

There they went! Abbey started off at slow pace.run abbey run

Andrew was very fast! He was already at the fire station…

Screenshot-140

…when the others were still making their way down the hill.

Screenshot-143

And when the others arrived at the firestation, Andrew was already at the beach…

Screenshot-144

It was no wonder Andrew was the first to cross the finish line, with a time of 46:06!

Screenshot-147

Lillian was very proud of her husband!

Screenshot-151

While Andrew was already putting on his coat, the rest of group had finally made it to the beach.

Screenshot-153

The race for second place was to be more exciting than the race for first. In the end, it was Evelyn who came in second, at 1:23:45.

Screenshot-155

And Mary was third, at 1:24:20.

Screenshot-157

Then the rest of the group followed quickly. Abbey was last, because she walked the entire way.

Screenshot-159

Of course, the winners of this run also got a medal. Mary was very excited about hers!

Screenshot-160

And so, the first event of the festival had taken place and everyone went home excited for what the next days would bring!

part 2

——————————————————————-
Note

It was a lot of fun to play the run. It really was all fair, all the runners started at the same time. But sims will be sims, so along the way, some stopped for a bit because there was another sim in front of them. Eventually they all continued. It was good to see Ellie win, even though she’s a blob of pixels, I really think she wanted this ;). Andrew was a HUGE surprise. He really was MILES ahead of the rest. And I hadn’t given him any other instructions! He just ran faster. Afterwards, I found out he has 10 athletic skills, probably from all those water sports he did in Isla Paradiso. Abbey made me laugh. I had told her to “jog here”, just like the rest of the group, but she refused to run. She just kept on walking, no matter what I did. It was probably a glitch, but it was funny regardless. Abbey doesn’t run. Hmmm, not sure this is a good quality for a cop…

March 04: March Merriment

March was a busy month in Honeycomb Valley! So I again bring you lots of little stories instead of one big one.

Sophie’s exchange

In February it was announced that The Beehive would participate in an exchange program with Sandy Valley. Sophie immediately signed up! She got matched with Chloé Degnome and the two girls started writing each other letters:

Sophie-Chloe lettersThen, on the very first day of March, it was time for Sophie to go and meet her new friend.
She was very excited whilst packing her suitcase…

Screenshot-114

…and even when waiting for the taxi to take her and her parents to the busstation…

Screenshot-115

But once she was there, she got a bit nervous…It was kinda scary and to make matters worse, her brother wasn’t there to say goodbye to her either. Emmett may be a big pain in the behind, but he’s still her brother and they actually get along quite well.

Fortunately, Emmett arrived before the bus did.

Screenshot-123

Just in time too, because soon, the bus pulled into the station and it was time for goodbyes.

Sophie goodbyeBye bye Sophie, we will miss you! Have a good time in Sandy Valley and we’ll see you at the end of the month!

Screenshot-133

Read all about Sophie’s stay in Sandy Valley here, at Sandy’s non-blog!

A few hours with the Knight family

From watching Loretta with her children, you’d think having 4 year old triplets is a piece of cake…
They play amongst themselves while mum cleans the kitchen.

Screenshot-135

Screenshot-174

Then you spend some quality time with each of them by reading them stories.

Knight kids readingAnd as if the house isn’t full enough yet, you also decide to adopt a second cat…

Screenshot-156

Meet Whiskers!
One thing Loretta does not have to do however, is cook. Pierce loves cooking and the family always has dinner together.

Screenshot-141After dinner it’s time for the kids to get some sleep. Bedtime is a two parent job though!

Knight kids bedSleep well, triplets!

Holly and Kyra and the horses

Those who’ve read the Christmas stories, might remember that Kyra (and Holly) got riding lessons for Christmas! With it being March, it was finally time to start! Even though it was still a very chilly morning, the girls couldn’t wait to get to the ranch!

They both got up early to get ready!

hk brushAnd put on their new riding outfits!

hk hatDespite the weather not being very cooperative, they still felt very excited on their way to the ranch.

hk bikeAt the ranch they met with Luke, who would teach them all they needed to know.

Screenshot-206Luke assigned Snow to Kyra and Travalda to Holly. After saddling the horses it was finally time to go!

But… getting on a horse is tricky and riding is actually pretty scary at first!

hk on horseThey managed though, and after a while it got a bit easier.

Screenshot-226

Screenshot-222After a bit of riding, it was time for the next part of the lesson; taking care of your horse.
However… That required getting off them first! If you think getting on  a horse is hard, try getting off one…

hk off horseNot quite the way, girls…

When they were safely on the ground, Luke taught the girls how to take care of their horses. Kyra and Holly loved this part!

hk care horses

Cleaning out a stable is less fun though…

Screenshot-248

After a few hours with the horses, the girls thanked their teacher for the lesson and went home for a shower.

Screenshot-253

When they were all clean and dressed again, they met up in the park. Of course their conversation was about…

Screenshot-265

Horses! Both girls are already looking forward to next weekend!

Travelplans

There’s nothing better on a cold, dull, early spring morning than making plans for a warm summer. That’s what Eva and Jasper thought at least. They got some travelbrochures to browse through.

Screenshot-306After discussing both their wishes, it was a tie between Monte Vista (Eva’s choice) or Egypt (Jasper’s choice). They decided to go down to the travelagency to ask Selena, the travelagent, for some help.
Upon arrival, Eva again had to point out to Jasper how stunning Monte Vista looked.

Screenshot-311

Selena was very helpful and told the couple that both places were great, but if you visited in summer, Egypt was bound to be very hot. Eva quickly chimed in that her brother and cousin had said the same thing after their trip last summer. Considering that advice and his girlfriend’s pleas, Jasper soon agreed that it would have to be Monte Vista. And so their summer trip was booked!

Screenshot-315

Jasper and Eva weren’t the only ones with travelplans. The Chapman family braved the rain and headed over to the travelagency as well.

Screenshot-320

They had no idea what they wanted yet and really needed Selena’s advice.

Screenshot-323

It had to be somewhere that was fun for the kids, that especially. The boys were immediately excited when Selena mentioned camping. Lillian was less happy with that prospect and needed some convincing, but when Selena showed her a brochure of the camping ground with it’s very own water park on a warm sunny island, even Lillian had to admit that sounded pretty good. Another summertrip booked!

Screenshot-326

The Chapman family then headed back home through the rain, but with that summer holiday on their mind, it already seemed a lot less dreary!

Screenshot-330

Sophie’s return

Very late on the very last day of March, a bus arrived at Honeycomb Valley busstation. She had returned!

Screenshot-341

Avery was happy to have her daughter back safe and sound! (and so was I, I had Sophie in the library when she was “in Sandy Valley” so she wouldn’t walk around town, and I was really excited to have her back!)

Screenshot-342

She quickly took her daughter back home. Sophie wouldn’t stop talking about her trip. It had been so much fun!

Of course Sophie was also happy to be home again, in her own room and her own bed. Before she turned in though, she had to unpack her suitcase and put up all her pictures and souvenirs.

Screenshot-344

She even put up that picture of Jérémy… Okay, he could be sort of annoying, but he had also been quite nice… And quite cute too…

Sophie went to sleep feeling very tired, but very happy too. And the best part of it all was that next week Chloé would be visiting her for a whole month! How very exciting!

Screenshot-345

Ps..

March was done and I was tired, but while I was getting ready to close my game and leave, the burglar alarm at the Wilson residence sounded. Something funny happened then. Emmett got up feeling all brave and went downstairs. He immediately started to fight the burglar and managed to win it too. The tough female police officer then gave Emmett a compliment for apprehending the thief and he in reply started to check her out. This gave me an idea for a future storyline, so I had to share. I even managed to take a few pictures of the event, but they’re not really good, because it all happened so fast.

Emmett burglar
